Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Emmy’s dad disappeared years ago, and with her mother too busy to parent, she’s shipped off to Wellsworth, a prestigious boarding school in England. But right before she leaves, a mysterious box arrives full of medallions and a note reading: These belonged to your father.
Just as she’s settling into life at Wellsworth, Emmy begins to find the strange symbols from the medallions etched into the walls and stumbles upon the school’s super-secret society, The Order of Black Hollow Lane. As Emmy and her friends delve deeper into the mysteries of The Order, she can’t help but wonder—did this secret society have something to do with her dad’s disappearance?
Had high hopes for this one and it’s okay but just not as good as I was hoping. I am over 60% and it’s just starting to pick up a bit.
There were certain things Emmy’s mother didn’t really need to know. Trivial things like whether Emmy had clipped her toenails or that she she’d stepped in something sticky at the park. But the letter in Emmy’s nightstand was not a trivial thing, and if her mom had found out about it, she would have pitched a fit.
Interesting beginning with a hint of mystery surrounding the letter.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
“You’ve got to eat a proper meal,” Lola said as she dumped more sausage on Emmy’s plate.
Some kind of yellowish goo oozed out of one of the sausages. “How is this a proper breakfast?”
Emmy wrinkled her nose. “I think I’ll stick with the eggs.”
I agree with Emmy she should stick to the eggs! 🙂
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
Do you have a favorite classic? When did you read it? High school or as an adult?
My favorite classics I was never forced to read in High School like some people where it was actually after HS that I read my first classic book. I first read Jane Austen after watching You Got Mail because it mentions Pride and Prejudice, though it was my first by her it’s my second favorite of hers as my first and favorite classic is Persuasion. I have always liked a second chance love and Captain Wentworth, sigh, is one of my favorite male book characters. 🙂
