Friday Meme’s ~ The May Queen Murders

June 3, 2016 Memes 18

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

What is your most interesting bookish memory or experience.

Well, since I haven’t really had a lot of bookish memories I am going to go with my most recent event and that was BEA.  It was the first time I ever got autographs from authors and that was a really cool experience for me. 🙂

Book reading I think it would be reading my first Stephen King book as a young teen and being so scared I didn’t want to sleep.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

Stay on the roads. Don’t enter the woods. Never go out at night.

Those are the rules in Rowan’s Glen, a remote farming community in the Missouri Ozarks where Ivy Templeton’s family has lived for centuries. It’s an old-fashioned way of life, full of superstition and traditions, and sixteen-year-old Ivy loves it. The other kids at school may think the Glen kids are weird, but Ivy doesn’t care—she has her cousin Heather as her best friend. The two girls share everything with each other—or so Ivy thinks. When Heather goes missing after a May Day celebration, Ivy discovers that both her best friend and her beloved hometown are as full of secrets as the woods that surround them.

Just started this one last night, so I hope it’s a good one. It’s a YA mystery/thriller.

Now, Ivy girl, you gotta know there’s bad out in them woods, and the worst kind of bad Rowan’s Glen has ever known is Birch Markle. Things weren’t ever right with the Markle boy. There was no real reason for the things he done, but sometimes, well, evil’s like that.

Well now that beginning is an attention grabber. 🙂

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

I breathed. More noise. The rustle of my skirt falling back over my legs. Water traveling over pebbles. Tree frogs peeping in the woods.

The mill was silent.

“It’s not turning,” I said.

“The mill?” Rook asked. “Maybe the water’s too low.”

“No, I heard it when we came here.”

I wiped my face and shook off everything surging out of me, locked in back in my cells. The wooden wheel had halted, or had it? The bottom of the wheel pitched back and forth as if trying to turn, but caught.

book blogger hop

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Do you reply to every comment on your blog?

I wish I could say yes, but there are times when I get busy and forget to comment back and then it gets away from me and I don’t have time to go back and get everyone but I do try.

Oh, I love the eerie sound of this one…I’ve been in the Ozarks, visiting, when I was a kid, so I can visualize those dark woods. Yikes! Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

That cover is gorgeous, really liking the imagery of the girl, it adds to the spookiness

I am so glad you were able to go to BEA! It sounds like such a fun event. 🙂 The May Queen Murders sounds like a fun book. I hope you are enjoying it!

I do make an effort to respond to all comments, even if I’m late getting around to it. It means sacrificing something else, unfortunately, but it’s something I like to do. I understand that not everyone is able to reply to all their comments though.
