Friday Meme’s ~ The Hollow Places

Posted August 27, 2021 by Stormi in Misc. / 4 Comments

Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

A young woman discovers a strange portal in her uncle’s house, leading to madness and terror in this gripping new novel.

Pray they are hungry.

Kara finds these words in the mysterious bunker that she’s discovered behind a hole in the wall of her uncle’s house. Freshly divorced and living back at home, Kara now becomes obsessed with these cryptic words and starts exploring the peculiar bunker—only to discover that it holds portals to countless alternate realities. But these places are haunted by creatures that seem to hear thoughts…and the more you fear them, the stronger they become.

I am currently reading this one and it’s not bad though I am curious where it’s going to go since something happened at the 50% point. At least as of right  now I am enjoying it more than The Twisted Ones by this author.

Nobody ever believes me when I tell them my uncle Earl owns a museum.

It’s a bit of a strange museum too!

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

Maybe the willows surrounded my world, or maybe my world surrounded it, like a tumor in my world’s flesh.

Kara is trying to figure out the things she has seen.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

How young do you think children should be when they start reading?

I think when ever they can read letters they can read books, but I also think they should be read to even if they can’t read themselves. I loved having my dad read to me when I was little.

I think I liked this one a bit better than The Twisted Ones, though the author needs to find a new trope than portals! 🙂

  1. The Hollow Places looks so creepy! I really love the cover. I think making a big deal about learning to read isn’t healthy. I know so many parents who get competitive about when their kids start reading and I’ve never noticed that starting to read at 3 makes you love reading anymore then starting to read at 6. I am a big advocate of reading aloud regardless of age though!
