Friday Meme’s ~ The Dark Game
Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Ten writers are selected for a summer-long writing retreat with the most celebrated and reclusive author in the world. Their host is the legendary Roderick Wells. Handsome, enigmatic, and fiendishly talented, Wells promises to teach his pupils about writing, about magic, about the untapped potential that each of them possesses. Most of all, he plans to teach them about the darkness in their hearts. The writers think they are signing up for a chance at riches and literary prestige. But they are really entering the twisted imagination of a deranged genius, a lethal contest pitting them against one another in a struggle for their sanity and their lives. They have entered into Roderick Wells’s most brilliant and horrible creation. The Dark Game. FLAME TREE PRESS is the new fiction imprint of Flame Tree Publishing. Launched in 2018 the list brings together brilliant new authors and the more established; the award winners, and exciting, original voices.
Only read a few pages of this so far so no opinions but I hope it’s good!!!
Lucy sat in the back of the limo, blindfolded, unaware she was entering the nightmarish plot of a madman instead of a writer’s retreat.
I just think nothing good can come from being blindfolded and driven somewhere!!!
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
Lucy carved off a chunk of salami. “So this is like a support group?”
Sherilyn got to her feet. “Stop being so cynical.” She moved towards the stained-glass windows. “We all know what’s at stake. Anyone who claims three million dollars isn’t a serious incentive is lying.”
From page 56 of the ARC so could change in final print. Sounds pretty interesting!
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
If you could take the place of any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Umm, so I would definitely be Veronica Speedwell from the Veronica Speedwell mystery series by Deanna Raybourn. Not only is she a very fascinating woman who studies butterflies and speaks her mind in a time when that is frown upon but she gets to hang out with STOKER!!!! 🙂
