Friday Meme’s ~The Bachelor Girls Guide to Murder
Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.
First physical description of a character in a book that you find appealing?
Hmm, I don’t think I have ever really thought much about this type of question. I would probably go with smoldering eyes or something like that. I am an eye person…lol. Then normally it’s just how the character acts whether I might find myself crushing on a book character.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
In 1910 Toronto, while other bachelor girls perfect their domestic skills and find husbands, two friends perfect their sleuthing skills and find a murderer.
Inspired by their fascination with all things Sherlock Holmes, best friends and flatmates Merinda and Jem launch a consulting detective business. The deaths of young Irish women lead Merinda and Jem deeper into the mire of the city’s underbelly, where the high hopes of those dreaming to make a new life in Canada are met with prejudice and squalor.
While searching for answers, donning disguises, and sneaking around where no proper ladies would ever go, they pair with Jasper Forth, a police constable, and Ray DeLuca, a reporter in whom Jem takes a more than professional interest. Merinda could well be Toronto’s premiere consulting detective, and Jem may just find a way to put her bachelor girlhood behind her forever–if they can stay alive long enough to do so.
I haven’t read much of this one yet but so far it’s not to bad. It reminds me a bit of Phyrne Fisher Mysteries.
A murder scene is no place for a proper lady.”
Merinda Herringford tilted her chin defiantly and stared at Constable Jasper Forth with an icy eye.
“Then it’s a good thing I’m not a proper lady.”
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
“And these.” She jangled keys. “Picklocks I got in Kensington Market.” Ray inspected them, sure she couldn’t have acquired them by legal means. “So, with these gadgets and out wits we will break into the Globe office in pursuit of…what, exactly?
56% in on my kindle fire. Okay so that has me curious…lol.
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
Where do you find motivation and inspiration for your blog?
From my love of reading. I like having an outlet where I can talk about books and share books with those who might not have heard of a particular book. 🙂
