Friday Meme’s ~Read Herring Hunt

November 23, 2018 Misc. 11

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

Mystery bookstore owner Samantha Washington is about to find out it’s not so easy to play Monday morning quarterback when it comes to murder. . .

To the town of North Harbor, Michigan, MISU quarterback Dawson Alexander is a local hero. To Samantha Washington, owner of the Market Street Mysteries Bookstore, Dawson is more than a tenant—he’s like an adopted son. But to the police, he is their prime suspect after his ex-girlfriend is found murdered. It’s more than enough real-life drama for Sam to tackle, but her role as a mystery writer also calls. Returning to the English countryside between the wars, she finds Lady Daphne Marsh in quite the quandary. Someone has tried to murder the scandalous American divorcée Wallis Simpson, for whom Edward VIII so recently abdicated his throne. It seems finding a suspect is no small challenge when most of England has a motive . . .

While Sam’s lawyer sister Jenna rushes in to build Dawson’s defense, Sam and her lively grandmother, Nana Jo, huddle up to solve the mystery and blow the whistle on the real killer. With the tenacious members of the Sleuthing Senior Book Club eager to come off the sidelines, Sam and her team just might stop a killer from completing another deadly play . . .

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book so why oh why are Barb and I putting ourselves through this again and buddy reading this…lol. It has a book within a book and it’s that book that right now is dullsville and makes no sense and I am about to the point of skipping the MC’s book she is writing and just read the actual cozy mystery. See how confusing that is. 😉

“Did you see the getup that little floozy had on?”

“Shhhh.” I glanced around to make sure the “little floozy” was out of earshot. Tact wasn’t Nana Jo’s strong suit.

“Don’t shush me. I’ve seen Sumo wrestlers wearing more fabric.”

Nana Jo cracks me up! She doesn’t like the girl Dawson is seeing or what she is wearing…lol.Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“Professor Quin, I really appreciate your agreeing to help me with my research.”

“Please, call me Harley.” He smiled.

I was thankful the lighting was dim because my face became heated. Thirty-something-year-old women shouldn’t blush when they went out on non-dates.

Hmmm, I am curious about this and who Harley is as I haven’t gotten this far.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

You meet an interesting person of the opposite sex at a club. Suddenly, they start acting as if they’re a character in a novel you’ve read, and they are firmly convinced that they ARE that character. First, which character is it, and second, how do you react?

I have to go with the first character that popped into my head and that is Stoker from the Veronica Speedwell series and if he could pull off acting like Stoker and he was as cute as him, I might have to take him home with me. 😉  No, seriously if someone started acting like one of my favorite characters I might think he escaped a mental hospital and look for someone to take him back. 🙂

Haha, I read that last meme as “You meet an interesting person at a SEX CLUB,” and I almost fainted. Haha, okay, calm now. For me, the person would think he’s the cello in Audrey Driscoll’s novel She Who Comes Forth. Yes, the main character’s musical instrument takes on a personality all its own. That would scare me, and I’d react by getting the heck outta there!

Ha ha, I can see how you could see that at first glance. 🙂 A cello with it’s own personality, intriguing! 🙂
