Friday Meme’s ~ Pixie Piper and the Matter of the Batter

July 28, 2017 Misc. 15

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

In this sequel to The Secret Destiny of Pixie Piper, Pixie Piper—who is a direct descendent of Mother Goose—and her adorable gosling, Destiny, head to Chuckling Goose Farm, where she bakes magical wishing cakes, makes new friends, and defends the farm from the evil Sinister Sisters. “A fresh new addition to middle grade stories of magic and friendship; recommended for fans of . . . Chris Colfer’s The Land of Stories.”—School Library Journal

Pixie Piper and her best friend, Gray, are off to Chuckling Goose Farm, where descendants of Mother Goose spend the summer learning to master their magic. With her new friends, Rain and Pip, she makes up baking rhymes, plays with her goose, Destiny, and learns how to bake magic wishing cakes. The farm seems safe, but when Pixie finds a shard of glass that belongs to Raveneece, her old enemy, she begins to worry that the worrisome Sinister Sister isn’t as banished as she’d hoped. With multigenerational characters, an emphasis on family, a powerful portrayal of grade-school friendships, and lots of poetry, this is a truly original fairy-tale retelling.

I thought the first one was really cute so when the author asked if I would like to review this one I jumped on it. So far it’s been really cute too!

Riding shotgun in Aunt Doris’s truck, with my goose, Destiny, on my lap, I stared out the window and tried to memorize landmarks.
Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“Destiny! Des!” I called. When she didn’t appear, my knees became shaky.

“Look again. She’s probably in the goose pile. They all look pretty much alike when they’re sleeping,” Pip said.

From Page 56 of the hardcover.

Pixie snuck out to see her goose because she is not use to being with out her and couldn’t find her and got pretty panicked.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Do you read tie-in novels to movies or television series? If so, which ones?

If I really like the movie or TV show I normally try and read the book. The books though different are a lot better because there are more to them. Best example is I love the Hallmark Mysteries based on cozies and I have read some of the books and they are so totally different but I still enjoy them. I think if I would have read them before the shows I might not enjoy the shows as much so I am glad I read them after.

It is a cute read. 🙂 I like the Aurora Teagarden too but I love the Murder She Baked more probably cause of Cameron Mathison (sp)…lol. 🙂 Though I am a big fan of Yannik Bison on AT and I have been a big fan of Colin Ferguson since Eurika so I am partial to the newer one with Jewel in it The Fixer Upper Mysteries…lol. Oh heck I just like them all. 🙂

They are a lot different…but I like them in their own right if I just think of them as separate things. 🙂 (Like Aurora’s friend in the book is not Sally like it is in the movies)

  1. Roberta @It's a Mystery

Re-imaginings of fairy tales are so popular right now.

I’m reading books from a bestseller challenge and many of them have been made into movies. So, I usually read the book first. The book is almost always better.

The Pixie Piper books sound so cute!! I’m glad to know the 2nd book is proving to be as good. I love the cozy mysteries on Hallmark! I think my favorite series so far is the Garage Sale Mysteries though I don’t know if they’re based on a book series or not. If someone wrote books like the movies I’d definitely read them!
