Friday Meme’s ~Obscura

May 25, 2018 Memes 11

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

She’s felt it before…the fear of losing control. And it’s happening again.

In the near future, an aggressive and terrifying new form of dementia is affecting victims of all ages. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms are disturbing. Dr. Gillian Ryan is on the cutting edge of research and desperately determined to find a cure. She’s already lost her husband to the disease, and now her young daughter is slowly succumbing as well. After losing her funding, she is given the unique opportunity to expand her research. She will travel with a NASA team to a space station where the crew has been stricken with symptoms of a similar inexplicable psychosis—memory loss, trances, and violent, uncontrollable impulses.

Crippled by a secret addiction and suffering from creeping paranoia, Gillian finds her journey becoming a nightmare as unexplainable and violent events plague the mission. With her grip weakening on reality, she starts to doubt her own innocence. And she’s beginning to question so much more—like the true nature of the mission, the motivations of the crew, and every deadly new secret space has to offer.

Merging thrilling science-fiction adventure with mind-bending psychological suspense, Wall Street Journal bestselling author Joe Hart explores both the vast mysteries of outer space and the even darker unknown that lies within ourselves.

Not started this one yet but everyone seems to like it so I am crossing my fingers that I will like it too! 🙂

“Ten, nine, eight, seven…” The voice inside Gillian’s helmet reverberated in her skull as the shuttle shook to life around her.

She braced herself, every muscle tense.

I could see that being a bit nerve rattling!Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“It worked,” Carson said.

“It did,” she said, trying to gather her wits.

“You weren’t sure it would, were you?”

“No, There aren’t any sureties when dealing with the human mind.”

“Isn’t that the truth.”

Not a clue what is going on but that sounds like an interesting conversation and I am curious  whom they are talking about.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Do you remember the first book you read by yourself?

Not really, goodness that was along time ago!!! 🙂  I remember reading Goodnight Moon by myself but I think my dad read it to me first and we hunted for the mouse in each picture. I can remember a few books from way back then but not a lot come to mind. Ramona by Beverly Cleary, How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell and Encyclopedia Brown by Donald J. Sobol (these books came out in the 70’s and I was probably reading them by the 80’s)

I have this on my list too, Stormi. Sure does sound good. Sorry if I’m not around much. Internet is down at my house until they come out to fix it on June 1st. Hit or miss on the internet til then.

I’m hoping to read Obscura the first 2 weeks of June for my sci-fi challenge so I’m hoping you love it (since we usually think alike). There is no way I could remember the fist book I read by myself. However, I really did like reading the Nancy Drew books when I was young. Man, that’s too much thinking for me to try to do.

I didn’t discover Goodnight Moon until I read it to my son.

Enjoy Obscura. All the psychological aspects sound challenging.

  4. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

This doesn’t look like a book for me but I have heard some good buzz about it. I hope you enjoy it! The teasers seem pretty gripping. I can’t remember the first book I read either though I do remember a decent number of books I read as a kid.
