Friday Meme’s ~ Meg

May 11, 2018 Misc. 28

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

Revised and Expanded. On a top-secret dive into the Pacific Ocean’s deepest canyon, Jonas Taylor found himself face-to-face with the largest and most ferocious predator in the history of the animal kingdom. The sole survivor of the mission, Taylor is haunted by what he’s sure he saw but still can’t prove exists – Carcharodon megalodon, the massive mother of the great white shark. The average prehistoric Meg weighs in at twenty tons and could tear apart a Tyrannosaurus rex in seconds. Taylor spends years theorizing, lecturing, and writing about the possibility that Meg still feeds at the deepest levels of the sea. But it takes an old friend in need to get him to return to the water, and a hotshot female submarine pilot to dare him back into a high-tech miniature sub. Diving deeper than he ever has before, Taylor will face terror like he’s never imagined. MEG is about to surface. When she does, nothing and no one is going to be safe, and Jonas must face his greatest fear once again.

This is the buddy read that Barb and I are doing this month and I just couldn’t help myself I wanted to get into it now instead of waiting a little later in the month…lol. I am at 55% and really liking it. It’s getting to the part where Meg is going to be terrorizing the ocean. The first part was a bit slow in parts but still held my attention. I think I was just in the mood for this book! 🙂

Late Jurassic -Early Miocene Period The Coast of the Asiamerica-Northern Landmass (Pacific Ocean)

From the moment the early morning fog had begun to lift, they sensed they were being watched. The herd of Shantungosaurus had been grazing along the misty shoreline all morning. Measuring more than forty feet from their duck-billed heads to the end of their tails these reptiles, the largest of the hadrosaurs, gorged themselves on the abundant supply of kelp and seaweed that continued to wash up along the shoreline with the incoming tide.

The beginning gives you a glimpse of the Megalodon in the dinosaur days as it was suppose to be able to pretty much chomp a T-Rex into as it’s jaws were that massive!! So like I said the beginning is a little slow as you have a lot of info on Megs and then when they are diving down it’s a lot of routine deep sea exploration talk, but it didn’t really bore me so that is good. 🙂

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“…And let’s not forget the Meg is pregnant, she’s feeding for two… or maybe twenty-two, who knows how large a Megalodon litter is.”

So this is taken from 55% as it was were I currently was and didn’t want to jump ahead. 🙂 I can’t wait to see what happens!! I feel like I should insert the Jaws theme here…lol!! I so can’t wait to see the movie that comes out in August!!! Though I can tell it’s a bit different than the book. I couldn’t help it so I put the trailer up in case you haven’t seen it!! 🙂

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Could you ever pick a favorite book or is it like choosing your favorite child?

I would have to say no I could not. I can pick favorites of the year and things like that but if I had to just pick that one all time favorite book I don’t think I could do it as I just love to many to choose…lol.

Yeah, it’s the same pic on my book too! It has had several covers but I like the this one.

Meg sounds like quite an adventure in reading. The fact that she’s pregnant adds a whole new dimension.

I agree that it is hard to pick a favorite. I think it was Neil Gaiman who said that every time you read a book is a different experience.

Yes, I think it’s cool that she is pregnant!

So hard to pick a favorite, I even have troubles doing my favorites for the year…lol.

Yes, I treat mine all very good too. The use bookstore loves my books cause they always look like knew when I get rid of those I don’t want anymore.

    • Stormi

Yeah, pretty much and I am actually liking it more than I did the book version of Jaws! 🙂

Great answer! I know what you mean. I can’t narrow down my favourite book of all time either. I can usually decide on a favourite book that I’ve read each month during that specific month, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to narrow it down to an all-time favourite. Too many good books to still read.

Feel free to check out my Book Blogger Hop answer if you wish! 🙂
