Friday Meme’s ~ Ghost Mine

May 17, 2019 Memes 8

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

Deep in a Wyoming mine, hell awaits. Former cattle driver, Rough Rider and current New York City cop Nat Blackburn is given an offer he can’t refuse by President Teddy Roosevelt. Tales of gold in the abandoned mining town of Hecla, in the Deep Rock Hills, abound. The only problem-those who go seeking their fortune never return. Roosevelt’s own troops are among the missing, and the President wants to know their fate – and find the gold.

A trip to the town’s mine leaves Nat and his friends fleeing from wild, towering men. But they must return, despite their terror, to find out the source of Hecla’s strange power. In doing so they find a battle between underworld creatures and unravel a mystery that could spell the end of the world.

Just getting started on this one and so far it’s not bad, sort of a western horror.

This was Billy’s favorite time of the day. The whistle had sounded some time ago, signaling an end to the shift in the mine and that all was well.

That part isn’t real interesting but the more you read this short chapter gets interesting. I think chapter one is kind of like a prologue as it moves from Billy to the main characters.

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“I think you broke my damn elbow”

“Better that than leaving you in there for an early burial.”

Their first investigation into the mines didn’t go so well. 🙂

Page 56 from the ARC so subject to change.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Which author would you most like to interview, and why?

This is a tough question because there are a lot of authors I would like to interview! 🙂

I am going to go with Deanna Raybourn as I would like to know how she came up with the characters Veronica and Stoker. 🙂

Deanna would be a wonderful interview. Have you ever read any of the Lady Grey mysteries she writes? I’ve thought of going back and picking one up to see if I like them. I like this book and need to dive in this weekend. Hopefully I can even finish it.
