Friday Meme’s ~ Christine

February 21, 2020 Misc. 7

Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

Master storyteller Stephen King presents the classic #1 national bestseller of the ultimate vehicle of terror!

“This is the story of a lover’s triangle…It was bad from the start. And it got worse in a hurry.”

It’s love at first sight for high school student Arnie Cunningham when he and his best friend Dennis Guilder spot the dilapidated 1958 red-and-white Plymouth Fury for sale—dubbed “Christine” by its original cantankerous owner—rusting away on a front lawn of their suburban Pennsylvania neighborhood. Dennis knows that Arnie’s never had much luck in the looks or popularity department, or really taken an interest in owning a car . . . but Christine quickly changes all that. Arnie suddenly has the newfound confidence to stick up for himself, going as far as dating the most beautiful girl at Libertyville High—transfer student Leigh Cabot—even as a mysteriously restored Christine systematically and terrifyingly consumes every aspect of Arnie’s life. Dennis and Leigh soon realize that they must uncover the awful truth behind a car with a horrifying and murderous history. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and heaven help anyone who gets in Christine’s way…

Just getting into this one but it’s not bad so far! I am hoping I end up liking it as I need a win with a Stephen King book after The Stand…lol.

“Oh my God!” my friend Arnie Cunningham cried out suddenly.

“What is it?” I asked. His eyes were bulging from behind his steel-rimmed glasses, he had plastered one hand over his face so that his palm was partially cupping his mouth, and his neck could have been on ball-bearings the way he was craning back over his shoulder.

Arnie spotted the car he just had to have! 🙂

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“I know a creep when I see one,” he said, “and I think I’m looking at one right now. You’re on probation, kid. You screw around with me just one time and it don’t matter how much you paid up in front. I’ll put you out on your ass.”

The guy who let Arnie store his car in his garage even though it wasn’t for long was different…lol.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

What is your go-to recommendation for someone who doesn’t read often?

I think it might depend on what they are interested in but I think a good cozy mystery that is light hearted and fun are good for those who don’t read much. 🙂

I loved this book, read it when I was 12. Stole my moms copy from her shelf and read it while grounded… lol… What can I say. I added you to the linky but hope you pop by to celebrate our memeversary! Happy weekend!

I haven’t read a lot of King’s work, admittingly. He is hit and miss for me, but he is a great storyteller all around. Christine sounds like a good one.

Cozies do make great reads, and recommendation for infrequent readers.

      Have a great weekend!
