Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Pru and her husband, former Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse, are long overdue for a getaway. So when Pru is invited to redesign an Arts and Crafts garden in the picturesque Cotswolds, she and Christopher jump at the chance. Unfortunately, their B&B is more ramshackle than charming, and the once thriving garden, with its lovely Thyme Walk, has fallen into heartbreaking neglect. With the garden’s owner and designer, Batsford Bede, under the weather, Pru tackles the renovation alone. But just as she’s starting to make headway, she stumbles upon Batsford’s body in the garden—dead and pinned beneath one of his limestone statues.
With such a small police force in the area, Christopher is called upon to lead the investigation. Pru can’t imagine anyone murdering Batsford Bede, a gentle man who preferred to spend his time in quiet contemplation, surrounded by nature. But as her work on the garden turns up one ominous clue after another, Pru discovers that the scenery is more dangerous than she or Christopher could have anticipated.
Currently reading this one and liking it. I have enjoyed almost all the books in this series and this one makes me current so happy as I am hardly ever caught up on a series…lol.
Not a wowing intro but it fits with what comes next.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
From 56% on my kindle fire.
Mr. Elkington is the lawyer for the dead guy and I would have thought he would have asked this question a while back when his client died…hmmm.Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
When reading a book, do you use a bookmark to mark your place in the book, or do you just fold over the top corner of the page?
Bookmark! Folding a corner is blasphemy! 🙂 I am really particular about my books and I just can’t fold a corner it would drive me crazy.
Whitney
Folded corners makes me cringe! Best-Laid Plants sounds like a cute cozy mystery. I hope you enjoy it.
Barb (boxermommyreads)
I’m like you, I could never dog-ear a page. I have tons of bookmarks to use and am always on the look out for new ones. Glad you will be current with this series after this one. That’s a great feeling!

Never fold the corners. Cozy covers usually put a smile on my face, as does this one. Happy reading.
Laura Thomas
LOL Funny beginning and you gotta love the titles and covers for cozies.
I always use a book mark. I’d never damage the pages of a book.
Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library
I agree about folding a corner! I just couldn’t. I don’t understand people who write in their books either. I really love this series but am just not getting caught up on it. I need to schedule a few in and get caught up.
Kym
I fold corners only as the very last resort!
Katie @Just Another Girl and Her Books
Love the title of your current read! And I’m like you with the bookmark.
Have a great weekend.

A B & B in the English countryside, ramshackle or not, sounds like a place (and book) I could enjoy.
As for bookmarks vs. folded corners…I cringe at dogeared pages, and have mugs filled with bookmarks near all of my reading spots.
Here’s mine: “COLD AS ICE”

I enjoyed this one. I hope you did too. This week I am featuring Unholy City by Carrie Smith. Happy reading!

I use a bookmark!

I also don’t like to dog ear my books. I prefer using bookmarks!
Danielle
I love it how some bloggers are scared to fold over their book pages lol. Scandalous!! I use both real bookmarks — both digitally on the Kindle app, and real, paper ones. But when I was younger, I used to dog-ear the bottom of pages from my favorite scenes or quotes. I haven’t done that in awhile, since I mostly read off my Kindle now. I also sometimes use Post-It tabs to keep track of things like that. Oh, and Goodreads! They have an excellent track record of my favorite scenes.
