Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.
What Movie based on a book that comes out this year are you excited about?
So I don’t really go searching for movies based on books so I had no idea there was so many…lol. The two I picked are picked because they are by authors I know. One I have read a lot of his books but not this particular series and the other I want to read but haven’t yet. 🙂
So first thing that popped in my head of Beauty and the Beast, as it’s one of my favorite fairy tales. Then I had to search for the other two and although a new version of IT is coming out I didn’t put it here because I am just not sure of a remake, I mean Tim Curry is Pennywise and just not sure anyone can do it better…lol. I have been meaning to read The Dark Tower but just never have even though it sits on my bookshelf. I really want to read Agatha Christie but shamefully I have not yet. I am going to this year!!! Only thing about Murder on the Orient Express I worry about is it stars Johnny Depp and well, I am a hit or miss with his movies.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Being a powerful witch, Kendra has survived it all. Since she first beheld James over three hundred years ago, Kendra has tangled with witch hunters and wolves, helped a miller’s daughter spin straw into gold, cowered in London as German bombs fell, and lived through who knows how many shipwrecks. But her powers have limits, and immortality can be lonely. Kendra isn’t ready to stop searching for the warlock she had met centuries ago.
With the help of her magic mirror, Kendra will travel the world to reconnect with her lost love—and, of course, she can’t help but play a hand in a few more stories along the way.
Featuring retellings of favorite fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, and The Ugly Duckling, Alex Flinn’s latest young adult novel, Beheld, is fresh fairy-tale fun from beginning to end.
Here is another one that I have waiting in the wings for me to get too. 🙂
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
Well, I admit that one little sentence has me curious as to what is going on. 🙂
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
What was the one time you thought the movie was better than the book?
I can’t really think of one right off the top of my head.
Great choices, Stormi. Beheld has such a lovely cover. Curious about what you think of it.
I can’t wait to give it a try, I usually enjoy this authors reteliings.
I LOVE the sound of Beheld – and the one movie I can think that is better than the film is ‘Horse Whisperer’. The ending of the book is so LAME and the film ending was far more believable and realistic.
I loved that movie but didn’t know that Horse Whisperer was based on a book. 🙂
I’ve recently been watching movies based on the cozy mysteries I read. So far, the books have indeed been better. I’d love if you and your readers would check out mine … http://tinyurl.com/LisaKsBookReviewsGTS
I have ben loving the movies based on cozies, but then again I have’t read any of those books at the time. I have now read a few books from each series and boy are they ever different…lol.
I didn’t know that The Dark Tower trilogy was being filmed. These books have always been my favourite Stephen King stories and I look forward to seeing them on the screen
I didn’t know either till I went looking for books to movies for this question…lol.
My favorite fairy tales are Beauty and the Beast and Red Riding Hood (although I often cheer for the wolf). I just got the most GORGEOUS box set of the entire Gunslinger series for my birthday and will be posting pics tomorrow. Hope you class is going well and that you have a great reading weekend!
Cinderella is my other favorite, but I love Red Riding Hood too and the wolf…lol.
I’ve been curious about Beheld. I see it occasionally on different blogs. I probably will read the other books in the set before this one because I think I’m really more curious about Kendra’s story. Thanks for sharing this one.
I didn’t know it was part of a series when I got it, but then I have read a few in the series without knowing it was a series…lol. I have read Beastly and Mirrored (1st and 3rd) never new they were a series…lol.
Sounds good! Thanks for sharing…and enjoy.
Here’s mine: “THE DRY”

Sounds like my kind of book! 😀 Happy weekend!
I usually like this author so fingers crossed. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Beheld sounds amazing! I need to put this on my TBR soon! Here is the link to my Friday 56: https://coffeeandcatsblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/20/friday-56-22/
Hope you enjoy it if you read it! 🙂
This seems pretty interesting. Enjoy the book once you get to it. 🙂
I hope it is! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been meaning to read Beastly and now I think I’ll need to do so sooner than later!
I enjoyed it much more than the movie they came out with.
I’m super nervous about Murder on the Orient Express. I liked the BBC adaptation that was done of And Then There Were None so I have hope that Christie’s books can be done well for a modern audience but I’m struggling with how Johnny Depp is going to fit in on the Orient Express.
So I looked it up and Johnny Depp plays Ratchett, though I don’t have a clue who that is and Kenneth Branagh is Poirot which is kind of hard to picture in my head from the version I have seen on Netflix….lol.
Not sure about Beheld. I can never enjoy books with witches. But who knows, this one could be different! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
I rarely get excited about books becoming movies because they are never as good as the original. I used to love Johnny Depp films but now, like, you it’s hit or miss.
I’m excited for The Gunslinger too. I read the series wayyy back when though so I don’t even remember half of what happened in the books.
I hope you enjoy your Stephen King movie (I have nightmares even thinking of watching anything based on his books, it may have something to do with watching It with my cousins as a kid.)
I am looking forward to Beauty and the Beast as well though.
