Ellison Russell wanted a decorator, not a corpse. Too bad she finds Mrs. White in the study killed with a revolver. Things go from bad to worse when she finds Mr. White in the dining room killed with a candlestick. With so many bodies, is it any wonder Detective Anarchy Jones’ new partner considers Ellison a suspect?

With the country club gossips talking a mile a minute, an unexpected cocktail party, a visit from Aunt Sis, and a romantic decision, Ellison hardly has time to think about murder. Unfortunately, the killer has plenty of time to think about her.

Here is what I thought

One of my favorite series just keeps getting  better and better!

Ellison just wants to redecorate her home and since things didn’t go so well with her last decorator she is trying a new one. Mrs. White is not one Ellison would have chosen and she sure didn’t expect to come home and find her dead in the Study with the revolver.

She starts investigating when it seems apparent that Anarchy’s new partner thinks she could be the guilty one, and it doesn’t help that later on Mr. White is found dead in the dining room with the candlestick. It’s like a game of clue has came to Ellison’s house and she must get to the bottom of it. There seems to be plenty of suspects as Mrs. White had a secret and it could have made a few people mad.

Ellison also seems to be making a decision between Hunter and Anarchy, finally! I like her decision and hope she sticks with it and an actual relationship starts to develop.

Anarchy’s new partner is not as much of a fan of Ellison as Anarchy but maybe he will warm to her as I am sure they will be spending more time together as she seems pretty good at finding bodies. 🙂

I love Ellison and the retro 70’s setting that this series is set in. I love all the side characters even though her mother gets on my nerves, so glad my mom was never like that.

It also had a great mystery as I couldn’t figure out who done it till right before the reveal!

If you like cozies and a retro feel then check out this series ( I recommend starting with the first one!)

The Narrator

One of my favorite narrators, Callie Beaulieu, so of course it was great to listen too! 🙂
