Her instincts may be killer--but can she catch one this wicked?
After losing her job as a TV psychic, Lee Barrett has decided to volunteer her talents as an instructor at the Tabitha Trumbull Academy of the Arts--known as "The Tabby"--in her hometown of Salem, Massachusetts. But when the school's handyman turns up dead under seemingly inexplicable circumstances on Christmas night, Lee's clairvoyant capabilities begin bubbling to the surface once again.
The Tabby is housed in the long-vacant Trumbull's Department Store. As Lee and her intrepid students begin work on a documentary charting the store's history, they unravel a century of family secrets, deathbed whispers--and a mysterious labyrinth of tunnels hidden right below the streets of Salem. Even the witches in town are spooked, and when Lee begins seeing visions in the large black patent leather pump in her classroom, she's certain something evil is afoot. But ghosts in the store's attic are the least of her worries with a killer on the loose. . .
Second book in the Witch City Mysteries was just as good as the first one!
What I thought of this book.
In Tails, You Lose Lee is volunteering to be an instructor. She will be teaching TV to some students at the Tabby House. It use to be the old Trumball Department Store a long time ago and has a few haunted stories that goes with it.
When Wilson goes missing after going into the basement of The Tabby and then ends up dead in a totally different stop, Lee knows something sinister is going on.
Her students are deciding on what type of documentary to do about the old department store as a part of their grade. The more they look into things they start unraveling some family secrets. Some of these secrets leads Lee to figuring out things about what happened to the handyman.
The witches are used a lot more in this story which I really like because I like River. Lee uses her new found skills from the first book to see some things in a pair of black shoes. She didn’t think she would want to use her powers again but she is finding out that she can turn them off and on at will and that makes it better for her. The lady shows her things in the vision that helps her solve more of the mystery.
The romance is going along nicely with Lee and Pete and even her Aunt has someone who is interested in her. 🙂 I must say I do like it when the romance builds with each book instead of it being a full blown thing at the end of the first book in a cozy series. Cozies are more about the mystery than the romance so it’s nice when that is how things happen.
So far this series has been a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I love the blend of paranormal and mystery! If you like cozies then you need to check this series out!
C.S.E Cooney does a great job with this series. I am really starting to like this narrator the more I listen to her. Her voices are not perfect but they work. 🙂
