What I thought of this book.

I think out of all the books I have read by Ellery Adams that this has to be my favorite.

Ella Mae caught her husband with not just one but two ladies and is devastated so she does what any young lady would do, she goes home. She goes to her old home town where her mother and aunts still live, where her old arch rival still lives and her old crush still lives.

Ella Mae makes the most divine pies and her aunts and mother help her open The Charmed Pie Shoppe. Her family is a bit different and maybe a little magical and Ella Mae seems to be able to bake her feelings into her pies. This can be a good thing but it can be bad as well.

Then Ella Mae’s old nemesis’s new fiance is found dead  with Ella Mae’s rolling pen as the murder weapon. She will have to work hard to find out who would have wanted to kill the older man. Ella Mae is seen as the prime suspect because people over heard her threaten the man, but she wasn’t talking to him she was talking to Loralyn Gaynor her nemesis.

Ella Mae does some digging and finds out a lot of interesting things about Loralyn, her fiance and his children. Things were not all peaches and cream in that household.

Pies and Prejudice was a cute cozy mystery and I love the charmed pie shoppe and how Ella Mae has a gift for cooking her emotions into her pies. Her old crush is still in town and when she was thinking about him and baking it sure turned the town upside down…hehehe. I can’t wait to listen to the next one in this series, so much fun!

If your a fan of cozies you really should try this one as I think it’s probably my favorite from this author I have listened to so far.

The Narrator:

C.S.E Cooney is fast becoming a favorite of mine. We got off to a rocky start with one series she narrates but it has more to do with the southern voice that she gives that character. I was a bit afraid she might do that again but this time it wasn’t so hard on my ears so maybe her southern voice is getting better. 🙂

I’m not sure I’ll read the food related ones but it’s nice to see that Ellery Adams is writing good stuff in her other series- I’ve tried the Books by the Bay and the new book resort ones. Good review!!
