Cara always knew that life on planet L'eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L'eihr boyfriend, back on Earth working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her. Things start to look up when Cara is appointed human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L'eihr. A society that melds their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L'eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx finds himself in a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L'eihr relations. Humans don't know that their very survival depends on this alliance: Only Aelyx's people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and they hardly bat an eye when extremists make multiple attempts on Aelyx's life. The Way clearly needs humans' help, but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

I listened to Alienated last year and enjoyed it so when I seen Invaded was coming out I patiently waited for it to come out on audio and then I had to wait till I got to it on my review list..well I actually sort of bumped it a few..lol.

What I thought of this book.

So this one starts with Cara on the spaceship bound for the L’eihr while Aelyx has to stay behind on Earth and try to insure an alliance with earth.

Cara is finding out what it is like to feel like an alien as she is now the minority and not many people are happy to have her around. Things are a lot different with the L’eihrs as they eat different things, they exercise a LOT and that is about to wear Cara out.

There are also some strange things going on and someone seems to be trying to set Cara up. Jackson is up to something and there are some strange probes flying around.

Invaded was interesting because you get to see things from Cara’s perspective of what it’s like to be with a bunch of strangers and have to learn how to live by their rules. L’eihr are a lot like humans in some ways but in others they are really different and she has to learn to cope with those differences and feel like the odd one out.

There was times when I thought it lagged a little but just like with the first one all the action happened at the end and it leaves you really curious about what is going to happen next. I felt like I couldn’t really talk about to much without giving away something to those who haven’t read it.

If you are a fan of Alienated then you will be excited to read Invaded and if you haven’t read these but like YA and light sci-fi then you will enjoy them because I am not a sci-fi fan at all but I enjoyed them.

The Narrator:

Madeleine Lambert does a good job of narrating these books. I do find that her male voices are a bit strange, but you get use to them, or at least I did.

I really enjoyed this too. Officially it’s the last book, but that’s just because Disney-Hyperion didn’t want to contract for me until they saw how sales went for the first two. So I’m hopeful that we’ll get another. I was okay with how it ended, but I’d like more!

These have been on my radar. I’ve recently started reading more science fiction but it’s been in the adult category. Might need to give this a go.
    Great review!

They are pretty good for light sci-fi as I am not a huge fan of Sci-fi. πŸ™‚
