The Dallas SWAT team is hiding one helluva secret . . . they're a pack of wolf shifters. The team of elite sharpshooters is ultra-secretive—and also the darlings of Dallas. This doesn't sit well with investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone. They must be hiding something . . . and she's determined to find out what.Keeping Mac at a distance proves impossible for SWAT team commander Gage Dixon. She's smart, sexy, and makes him feel alive for the first time in years. But she's getting dangerously close to the truth—and perilously close to his heart...
Decent start to this series but didn’t grab me like I hoped.
What I thought of this book.
Mac is a reporter and she thinks that the SWAT team is using drug enhancements after watching them do amazing things while taking down the bad guys.
Gage is the pack leader and sworn to protect them from being found out so when she wants to tag along he has to keep her from finding out who they really are. This means spending a little extra time with her but he doesn’t seem to mind that.
Gage and his SWAT team killed the son of the wrong person and now that guy is wanting revenge which also puts Mac in harms way. Gage needs to protect her and his heart without baring his secret and that is something very hard to do.
I like Mac she is a tough reporter who goes after the stories that she thinks needs to be told. When she things the SWAT team is on performance enhancing drugs that is a story she thinks needs to be told. The more she gets to know everyone and watching them she is not so sure it’s drugs. She is not afraid to go head to head with a bunch of hunky SWAT guys.
Gage is like most Alpha’s he is very protective of his pack and the woman he cares about. They don’t believe in the myth of the ONE that wolves are suppose to find, but he can’t help but want Mac and want nothing more than to keep her out of harms way.
Overall the story was interesting but it wasn’t gripping and I got a little bored at times. I am still interested in going ahead with the the series and was told the next one is better so fingers crossed.
If you like paranormal romances then you might find this series interesting.
This was the first time I have listened to Abby Craden and she is not a bad narrator, I just don’t think I liked her for this book. She has a decent voice but something about it to me was just off.
