Jill Gardner—owner of Coffee, Books, and More in the tucked-away town of South Cove, California—is not particularly thrilled to be portraying a twenties flapper for the dinner theater murder mystery. Though it is for charity…
Of course everyone is expecting a “dead” body at the dress rehearsal…but this one isn’t acting! It turns out the main suspect is the late actor’s conniving girlfriend Sherry…who also happens to be the ex-wife of Jill’s main squeeze. Sherry is definitely a master manipulator…but is she a killer? Jill may discover the truth only when the curtain comes up on the final act…and by then, it may be far too late.
“Murder, dirty politics, pirate lore, and a hot police detective: Guidebook to Murder has it all! A cozy lover’s dream come true.” —Susan McBride, author of The Debutante Dropout Mysteries

Also by this author: If the Shoe Kills, Murder on Wheels, Tea Cups and Carnage, A Story to Kill, Fatality by Firelight, Hospitality and Homicide, Killer Party, Of Murder and Men, Killer Green Tomatoes (Farm-to-Fork Mystery #2)

I really enjoy this series! Jill can keep from getting into trouble. Poor Greg has his hands full and oh my Jackie this time was a hoot!

What I thought of this book.

Nothing is ever simple in South Cove. Sherri had decided to move into town and open a vintage dress shop. Sherri is Greg’s ex-wife and Jill can not stand her. It doesn’t help that she is host the business meeting with exceptional flare and it seems that everyone has show up. Jill can never get this many to shop owners to show up.

Sherri has a boyfriend though so things should be okay but then he ends up dead and Sherri ends up prime suspect number one. Sherri’s friend Pat wants Jill to help prove that she didn’t do it. Jill of all people! Greg wants her to stay out of things period but Jill can never seem to keep her mind from thinking over matters and always comes up with good clues or over hears things that are important.

There is a little side story going on with Jackie as she is helping a friend who gets scammed and lands in a bit of trouble. Jackie is by far my favorite character. So not only does Jill have to deal with everything going on in South Cove but has to worry about the trouble Jackie could be in. I do like Jill and Greg but it really is the side characters that keeps you entertained!

Just when you think you might know who done it it turns out to be someone else! I thought I had it figured out and then I knew I was wrong but quickly narrowed it down to who it must be right before we find out who it really was so it really did have me guessing.

This is one of my favorite series as I have enjoyed all of them so far and I love how at the end of each one you kind of get a taste of what the next one is going to be about. Jill finally gets notice that the piece of history in her back yard is authentic and she is part of the historical society and they want her to host their annual run. Killer Run is the next book in the series…lol.

If your a fan of cozies then I really recommend this series! Lynn Cahoon has fast become one of my favorite cozy authors!

The Narrator:

I love Susan Boyce, she does a great job with this series and is the voice of Jill. She is one of my favorite narrators!
