2020 Anticipated Books (Jan-March)

December 17, 2019 Misc. 7

I have decided there are so many good books to list all my anticipated reads, but I do want to highlight some of them and I also decided to do it quarterly so I can talk about more good books during the year. πŸ™‚ Click the pics to go to Goodreads and find out more about them.

January

The Janes by Louisa Luna – This is the second book in the Alice Vega series. I really enjoyed Two Girls Down so I am hoping this one will be just as good! In this one two bodies are discovered with no ids and nobody seems to be looking for them. The authorities fear it could be human trafficking so they enlist the help of PI Alice Vega and Max ‘Cap’ Caplin to find out who the two Janes are and find the others that are missing. Doesn’t this sound good!!!

A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer – This is the second book in the Cursebreaker series. I really loved how the first book was a beauty and the beast retelling. I am excited to find out what happens next with how things left off from the first one but I am also worried because this one will be just straight fantasy with no retelling, just a continuation of the story and I am hit or miss with fantasy stories. I really liked Grey from the story so I am excited to have a book about him and I am curious what the author is going to do about what we learned at the end of book one. So I am excited but also nervous!

The Hand on the Wall by Maureen Johnson – This is the last book in the Truly Devious series! So we are about to find out the identity of Truly Devious and I am so excited! I am also nervous because the second book felt like a rehashing of the first book and so to me just not as good. I am hoping it goes out with a bang though! In this one there is another body and so Stevie has another crime to try and solve plus she is pretty sure she knows who Truly Devious is and they left us hanging on that for a whole year!!! I want to know and I can’t wait!

Seven Deadly Shadows by Courtney Alameda and Valynne E. Maetani – Not heard of this author and this is a fantasy so like I said before could be hit or miss but there is a reason I am anticipating it. Japanese lore! It’s about a teenage girl who can see Yokai, ghost and demon haunting the streets of Japan. She finds out the Shuten-doji, demon king, will rise at the next blood moon. She has to enlist the aid of seven powerful Death gods for help. Doesn’t that just sound really cool!

February

Deathless Divide by Justine Ireland – This is the second book in the Dread Nation series and I will be honest that I am someone apprehensive about this one as I only thought the first one was okay, but at the same time I am kind of curious to see what happens next and I am still hoping for more zombie action than was in the first one! Please more zombies!

The Magnificent Monsters of Cedar Street by Lauren Oliver – So even though I haven’t really liked much this author has done I am really curious about this one and I want to give it a try. It sounds so cool and it’s about a young girl who helps her father save and heal monsters then he disappears and she has to find him with the help of some interesting creatures. This will be the book that decides if I ever try this author again! So please be good cause it sounds super cute!

The Good Killer by Harry Dolan – This is a new to me author but I really liked the sound of it and haven’t’ seen anyone else talking about it so I figured I needed too…lol. It’s about a couple who try and live quiet lives and it’s interrupted one day when a guy pulls a gun, Sean kills him and it’s put into the limelight and it brings attention to him from a couple of people from his past that I think he might not want knowing where he is. Sounds like a cool thriller!

The Dark Corners of the Night by Meg Gardiner – This is the third book in the Unsub series. I am so excited for this one as I loved the first two books! In this one FBI behavioral analyst Caitlin Hendrix goes to Los Angeles to help them with the Midnight Man. Each book has been based on a real serial killer and you can always pick out the similarities and I am pretty sure this one is about the Night Stalker. Super excited!!

March

Murderous Relations by Deanna Raybourn – This one is the fifth book in the Veronica Speedwell series and probably the book I am most excited for!! In this one Veronica and Stoker are asked by Lady Wellingtonia (what a name!) to help with a scandal that could rock the Monarchy. They end up undercover in a brothel! After the ending of the last one I am really curious about what will happen with my two favorite fictional peoples! πŸ™‚ Is it time to buddy read this one yet Barb? πŸ™‚

Hunting November by Adriana Mather – This is the second book in the Killing November series and I really liked the first one so I am curious to see how this one goes. November survived the assassin school but she is trying to find her father if her enemies don’t find her first! With what happened at the end of the first book I am really excited to see how it goes! Don’t let me down!

Please See Us by Caitlin Mullen – Don’t know this author but I found this one to sound interesting. Two young women become unlikely friends during one fateful summer in Atlantic City as mysterious disappearances hit dangerously close to home. Sounds good right?

All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban – Another author I don’t know and it’s not like it’s been done before and can be hit or miss, but I am a sucker for this kind of trope in YA mysteries. Six teens are invited to a scholarship dinner to find out it’s a trap. There is a bomb in a room with them and a syringe full of poison. They are told to choose someone to die or they all die. I always like to find out why someone would do this type of thing, what did those six do to the person or persons to make them resort to doing this. Please be a good one!

I don’t tend to look far ahead for upcoming releases just a few ARCs I maybe see popping up on friends blogs. There are a few series that have new releases coming soon plus Murderbot in May!

If I look to far ahead I forget what I seen unless I write them down and then I am not guaranteed to remember to look at my list…lol. Which is why I went with a few for three months and I will make a new list later…lol. I need to try Murderbot!
