A grouchy mountaineer, a Hollywood starletAnd miles of untamed wilderness...What could possibly go wrong?
Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.
Or what (literal) mountain she has to climb.
Easton Lockett may be a gentle giant, but he knows a thing or two about survival. If he can keep everyone in line, he should be able to get River and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece. Turns out that's a big if. The wildlife's wilder than usual, the camera crew's determined to wander off a cliff, and the gorgeous actress is fearless. Falling for River only makes Easton's job tougher, but there's only so long he can hold out against her brilliant smile. When bad weather strikes, putting everyone at risk, it'll take all of Easton's skill to get them back home safely...and convince River she should stay in his arms for good.
We have reviewed the other two books in this series and so when Barb was saying she was in a romance mood and I had just recently seen this book again which reminded me we hadn’t read it I asked if she wanted to and so here we are! We might enjoy the romance but I think we are both here for the animals that always pop up in them! 🙂 After you check out my review go on over to Booker T’s Farm and see what Barb says about it.
Here is what I thought
I really enjoyed the first two and so I figured I would enjoy this one as well. This just reminded me of how fun this series is and had some of the best banter and dialogue, that had me laughing out loud.
Easton is a big mountain of a man and he literally climbs mountians for a living! River is kind of a washed up actress who is trying to make a comeback as a producer of a documentary and she wants to do it of Moose Springs. The thing is the people of Moose Springs don’t want them there, they like it being a not as well known tourist place.
After getting kicked out of just about everyplace in town River decides to get footage of places on the outskirts of Moose Springs and is walking on the side of the road when Easton pulls up to give her help even though she didn’t want it. She can’t believe how friendly everyone is there even when she doesn’t need help and he ruins her footage.
Easton didn’t know what hit him when he offered River a ride because after that he was pretty much stuck with the small film crew of three, they had no place to sleep and so they crashed at his place where River asked him about his barn (which ended up being called the murder barn because of all the stuff in it…that part cracked me up!)
Then River and her team have this great idea to climb a very snowy mountain with Easton as their guide so they can document it. Easton is not in favor of this but he does it anyway and it really has catastrophe written all over it, that and some romantic bits, but a lot of disaster bits!
I really like Easton, I have liked him from the other two books that I have listened to and Easton has always been a fun one (Graham is still probably my favorite, but Easton is a close second). I wasn’t sure about River at first as she was kind of pushy when it came to getting her film made, but soon I was rooting for her and Easton as they just made such a cute couple. The ending was super sweet. I can’t wait to get a book about Ash though that is Easton’s super touch I don’t need anyone sister.
If you like romance novels then I highly recommend this series!
I am a fan of the narrator so I knew this would be great. Elise Arsenault is one of my favorites.
