With her beloved younger siblings settled and happy, Erin Foley has empty nest syndrome. At age thirty-five.
So she's hitting the pause button on her life and holing up in a secluded (but totally upgraded—she's not into roughing it) cabin near Virgin River. Erin is planning on getting to know herself…not the shaggy-haired mountain man she meets.
In fact, beneath his faded fatigues and bushy beard, Aiden Riordan is a doctor, recharging for a summer after leaving the navy. He's intrigued by the pretty, slightly snooty refugee from the rat race—her meditating and journaling are definitely keeping him at arm's length. He'd love to get closer…if his scruffy exterior and crazy ex-wife don't hold him back.
But maybe it's something in the water—unlikely romances seem to take root in Virgin River…helped along by some well-intentioned meddling, of course.

We are continuing our read through the Virgin River series!! Check out what I thought then go check out what Barb thought of it at Booker T’s Farm.

Here is what I thought

I really like the Virigin River series but sometimes it’s baby overload and can be a bit much! I enjoyed the main rommance which is between Aiden (Luke and Sean’s brother, these two have had stories) and Erin. Erin is the sister of Marcie (who has had a story) so of course we get a lot from these characters who are not side characters instead of main characters, and of course some from previous books. One couple that is pretty much in all the books is Jack and Mel from book one and they had a side story in this one.

Aiden and Erin had an interesting meet cute because Erin was up in the woods in a cabin and Aiden who has been visiting Luke as he is on vacation was hiking and looking a bit wooly and smelly and scared Erin. Something happens and Erin ends up knocked out and Aiden the doctor takes her to a hospital to make sure she was okay…lol. Aiden and Erin’s story was almost to easy so of course we have to put in Aiden’s ex to cause some trouble and boy was she a mess!!!

So like I said I liked Aiden and Erin’s story but it was the side story with Mel and Jack that kind of annoyed me and almost brought this down from 4 stars to 3.5 but the end saved it and I gave it 4. It has to do with babies and I don’t want to say in case someone hasn’t read it and wants to but lets just say Mel for once was super annoying! She straightened up a bit at the end which is why it got the half star bump up.

I am still enjoying the cozy feel of the town and those that live in there but I do think at times there can be a bit to much going on with all the other characters still having little bit parts in the books.

The Narrator

Therese Plummer still does a great job with this series!

  1. I have noticed that in some romance series (Robyn Carr’s especially) they seem to get pregnant pretty much immediately! There are lots of babies. I still really need to try this series though. I liked her Sully’s Crossing books.
