tuesdaysNot done one of these in a long time so decided to do one. 🙂 Tuesday Teasers is hosted by Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Share links to your post in the comments below – or, if you don’t have a blog, share your teaser in the comments.

Just do the following:
1. Grab your current read.

2. Open to a random page.

3. Share (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

4. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!

5. Share the title and author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like the teaser!

feral

The Lovely Bones meets Black Swan in this haunting psychological thriller with twists and turns that will make you question everything you think you know. It’s too late for you. You’re dead. Those words continue to haunt Claire Cain months after she barely survived a brutal beating in Chicago. So when her father is offered a job in another state, Claire is hopeful that getting out will offer her a way to start anew. But when she arrives in Peculiar, Missouri, Claire feels an overwhelming sense of danger, and her fears are confirmed when she discovers the body of a popular high school student in the icy woods behind the school, surrounded by the town’s feral cats. While everyone is quick to say it was an accident, Claire knows there’s more to it, and vows to learn the truth about what happened. But the closer she gets to uncovering the mystery, the closer she also gets to realizing a frightening reality about herself and the damage she truly sustained in that Chicago alley…. Holly Schindler’s gripping story is filled with heart-stopping twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very last page.

Teaser!

‘When Claire didn’t respond, he continued, That’s a barn cat. Which is just a nice way a’ sayin’ feral.” He pointed at the yellow tabby, then dragged his finger toward the cats perched beneath an awning at the far end of the lot, rubbing at their toward the cats crouched under the front porch of the old general store, ….’

Only 10% into Feral but it has peaked my interest and it’s in Missouri! I don’t get to read many novels that showcase my home state, and there is really a town called Peculiar and as mentioned in the book the sign does say,  ‘Where the “odds” are with you’…lol. It’s about 2  from where I actually live, so I have never been there..but it’s still pretty cool that it’s mentioned in a book..lol. 🙂 (It’s up close to Kansas City, so you can get more a visual of where to town is located. So might have passed the small town on my way through but never stopped in it.)

I also like it when the dialogue is written in the speaker’s dialect..that is what makes historical romance so fun..lol. So far I am liking this one, started out a bit strange though..lol.

Yeah, the Ozarks are great for camping. Missouri is okay but I have lived her all my life so I find it a bit boring..lol. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

  1. It’s really neat when books take place in a place I know. I think I just realized you’re from Missouri. I lived in St. Louis for three years – just moved back to Texas in December. We were sort of neighbors(where in Missouri are you?)! Too bad we missed that opportunity to meet 🙁

Berls, that is so cool that you lived in Missouri, though we lived on the opposite ends as I live in the southwestern corner near Joplin. I’m about an hour from Springfield. Would have been fun to meet up! Where in Texas did you move? I have been to Dallas and a small town called Stephensville. 🙂 That is the extent of my travels in Texas..lol. Oh wait..been to the Huston airport and port Galveston..went on a cruise from there..lol. 🙂
