When she hears the news of Munin’s untimely death, however, finding the murderer takes priority. The witch left behind a memory jug full of keepsakes that Olivia knows must point to the killer—but she’s got to figure out what they mean. With handsome Police Chief Rawlings by her side, Olivia starts to identify some of the jug’s mysterious contents—and finds its secrets are much darker than she suspected. Now Olivia must enlist the help of the Bayside Book Writers to solve the puzzle behind the piece of pottery and put an end to a vengeful killer before any more damage can be done…

TripleThreatReviewI am trying to catch up on some of the series I am reading, especially the cozy mystery series as there are soooo many! I listened to three from the Books by the Bays series by Ellery Adams pretty much in a row so thought I would just go ahead and do a post for all three. Hopefully I don’t get them mixed up! 🙂

In book four Olivia is busy helping with the coastal Carolina food festival when she is told that a lady named Munion wanted to talk to her, but she sort of ignored it. Munion is the called the Witch of Oyster Bay but when she insist that Olivia talk to her she decides to go and finds out that the old lady is very eccentric and she knows something about Olivia’s mother.  Though before Olivia can really figure out who Munion is and why she knew things about her mother the old lady is found dead. They are thinking it was an accident but Olivia has other thoughts but it’s not in Rawling’s jurisdiction so they can’t really do much about it. Though there is something going on with some others in town that keeps them busy with the food festival and soon it seems that it could also have something to do with Munion. Sheriff Rawling’s along with Olivia and the Books by the Bay Writers start to look into things on their end to see if they can figure out what happened at the festival along with what happened to Munion.

I remember when I first started this series and I wasn’t a huge fan of Olivia as she seemed a bit uppity and snobbish, but I pushed on because I figured there was a reason for it. Soon she started to grow on me and now I really like her and her blunt sort of snobbish side. I also know she can be pretty cool as well and I love her reading about how her relationship with Rawling’s is growing from not wanting anyone to know about it to being okay with others knowing. The secondary characters are pretty cool too and you quickly get invested in their lives and their writing and hope they all write and get published as they have their critique meetings, etc.

It’s a series I would recommend!

When Olivia Limoges and other Oyster Bay patrons of the arts sponsor a retreat for famous storytellers, one of them is going to have a very unhappy ending…
Olivia thought gathering some of the most renowned storytellers in one place would be a nice, simple way for herself and the Bayside Book Writers to appreciate their talents. But things take a dark turn when the most famous storyteller in the nation—the captivating performer Violetta Devereaux—announces onstage that she will meet her end in Oyster Bay.
When Violetta is discovered murdered after the show, everyone involved with the retreat becomes a suspect. There are rumors that Violetta, who grew up in extreme poverty in the Appalachian Mountains, possessed an invaluable treasure. Now Chief Rawlings and the Bayside Book Writers must work at a frenzied pace to solve the crime before someone closes the book on them.

In book five the patrons of Oyster Bay are getting ready to have a storytellers convention come to town. It should have been a great time but when the main storyteller tells of her demise in Oyster Bay and then dies that night things get grim. Olivia didn’t really know the person but she felt like because she died in her hometown she needs to figure out what happened. With all the other storytellers there, plus a few others that could have had a problem with the lady there are plenty of suspects. This one has kind of a sad ending and I hate when that happens!

Of course as above the characters in this are great so I will mention that there was a couple of sad things involving characters. One of them being that one of the writers decides to move! I wasn’t looking for that to happen.

What can I say this was another great mystery in this series and I love the characters. I liked that one that went away came back and brought with him a delightful addition. These are characters that you can just enjoy all their ups and their downs.

This series isn’t really one of those fun ones where they are quirky and laugh out loud but it is a pretty decent cozy series with great characters. So I would recommend this series to any cozy lover.

The narrator of this series is one of my favorites Karen White! She does an awesome job with this and has always been great with cozies. Her voices are pretty good and her voice really flows and it’s easy to listen too.
