The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.
During this week I kicked off my Monsters, Madmen, Mayhem. Oh my! event and I hope you all stop by my blog and check out the post, reviews and giveaways that will be happening. One thing I learned this year is plan more ahead…lol. I am thinking I need to start three months ahead to make sure I can get in good book reviews while still reading books to post that are not for MMM and keep things running more smoothly. My next event I am thinking of doing is Getting Cozy in February and featuring lots of cozy mysteries. 🙂 I am on such a horror/suspense/mystery kick right now it’s like all I want to read…lol. (But can’t cause I got other books to review as well…lol)
Other than being busy on the blog I haven’t don’t much else worthy of chatting about…lol.

Books read last week
Currently reading
- Dark Heart of Magic is not bad but just not what I am wanting to read right now which sucks cause I am in the blog tour, so I got to…lol. Just really hard to read when you really want to read horror right now…lol.
- The Suffering is okay but I do hope it starts to pick up now that the story is in Japan.
- Heart-Shaped Box is kind of creepy but I haven’t gotten far as I am just reading in a bit before bed.
- From Bad to Cursed I just started but have high hopes for it as I liked the first book. 🙂
What might be up next
Have you joined Tsu yet? Come on over and friend me there: https://www.tsu.co/BMReviews
I will definitely be stopping by to see your October posts! And Cozy February sounds good, I’ve been reading a few cozies and a lot of mysteries…
Before the Storm looks like a good suspenseful read.
Oh I do hope you stop by and like some of my Oct. post. 🙂 I have been reading a lot of cozies and mysteries as well!
I love your Monsters,Madman, Mayhem event it’s an awesome idea 🙂 I like your cosy mysteries idea for February. I just had a major summer event on my blog so know more events for an for a while. Have a great week.
Yeah, I am learning that events can be a bit overwhelming though I do enjoy them!:)
I like the look of some of your new books Stormi! (A few appeal there!) I’m not sure about the Monsters, Madman and Mayhem thing though as I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to horror etc.
You had a huge week though and I’m behind in my blog reading as usual so off to check out some of your posts.

Don’t worry some of my post are not to scary. 🙂
I like your idea of a genre themed month, although I can imagine how much work it involves. I participated in a sci-fi month challenge last year and it sure took a lot of effort to have enough posts int hat genre and read other genres as well. I am finally getting around to reading some cozy mysteries, although I haven’t really found my way in the genre yet, two 3 stars books so far.
I also got that Halloween book for free. I can’t wait to read Dark Heart of Magic, but it’s hard to read a book when you’re in the mood for another genre. That’s why I don’t do many tours anymore as it always seem to happen that I am not in the mood for the book I have to read. I hope you have a great week.
I would like to recommend the Tourist Trap Mysteries by Lynn Cahoon as I really enjoy them. I am also enjoying the Witch City Mysteries by Carol J. Perry and Lighthouse Library Mysteries by Eva Gates. 🙂 I have found some that were only a 3 star and that is a bummer but for the most part I have enjoyed the cozies I have read so far. Hope you find some good ones. 🙂
Yeah, reading something when your not in the mood is hard…I don’t sign up for many tours either for that very reason and kind of wish I hadn’t signed up for this one. 🙁
Thanks for the recommendations! I already have the Tourist Trap Mysteries on my to-read list, probably you recommended it to me before. I added the first Witch City Mysteries book and the first Lighthouse Library Mystery to my to-read list as well.
One of the 3 stars books had a good mystery, but I had some other issues with. The other one was just okay, nothing outstanding. It’s a shame you’re reaidng that book while you’re not in the mood for it, sometiems I feel like I woudl enjoy a book mroe if I could read it at another time.
I LOVE the idea of Cozy February! That’s fabulous and there’s so many fun options that you won’t have a shortage of books (though is there ever a shortage of books?). I need to get better about the planning ahead. I’m doing better than I was but there’s still room for improvement. You killed it on new books this week. I love weeks like that though it’s not very nice to my TBR. Have a great week!
Yeah, I don’t think I will ever have a shortage of books!:) I am going to start planning February in November…going to be better prepared this time. 🙂
Awesome haul of books. I hope you love all your new books. Your freebies look fantastic.

Thanks, I hope I love them too! Although I went a bit overboard…lol. 🙂
If only I could plan ahead, I think that will be one of my goals next year. Now if I can only stick with it that would be awesome.
Cozy February sounds fun! I am not a cozy reader but I have been in a horror mood just need to get through a few before I can actually get to them.
have a great week, stormi! I will have your post text this week. I am working on it! Happy Reading! ox
It’s so a goal for next year!
Might need a button for my Cozy event. 😉 Still trying to decide exactly how I am going to do it. 🙂
Can’t wait to see your post! 🙂
I like the sound of Cozy February. I’m not a big horror fan, but I’ll try to stop by. I’ll be sure to have my security blankie with me. 🙂
I will be having some lighter horror reviews going on too so they won’t be too scary…lol. 🙂
Cozy February is an awesome idea! I would definitely participate.
Awesome, good to hear. I would love people to participate with me. 🙂
Man, you got a lot of new books this week, Stormi! I’m still giggling because of Fangs for the Memories (and I have the song in my head, too)…
I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books, and that the week ahead will be amazing!
Yeah, got to many new ones…lol. Got to be good for a while if I can. 🙂 I worked hard getting my ratio up like three or four percent now it’s going back down! 🙁
I love the idea of Cozy February. I read Dressed to Kill and loved it.
Have a great week!
I didn’t plan ahead this year for October so I know how you feel. Cozy February sounds like fun and I might participate. Have a great week with all your new books!
Great haul. I totally forgot I need to read The Beast of Barcroft. At the rate I am going, I may have to extend Halloween reading up to Thanksgiving! Cozy February sounds like a lot if fun. Hope we both have a great reading week.
I love the idea of Cozy February!! Looks like you got a lot of books – Hope you enjoy them all! Have a great week!
Won’t fight you for all the monsterish scary reads, but good that you are enjoying them. Like you I wish I didn’t click so much at NetGalley! Loved Archangel’s Enigma too.
You always have a lot going on too. Should be a fun month with cooler temps and Halloween approaching. Thanks for stopping by!
Ooo, you got Fangs for the Memories (I will not look, I will not look….) and so many books. 🙂
Have a good week!
That’s quite a TBR stack
