The Week In Review #406

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

We had some lovely weather the last two days, but it’s back to rain and storms for a whole week. Can I put a wish in for just two weeks without rain. :/ Please!

So remember I mentioned our new used car, well it’s turned into a pain. So we had to put an altenator in, buy a new battery, get the AC vacuumed out and next the ball joints need fixed, so our 3500 dollar car is turning into more of a 4500 car. Hopefully after the ball joints (which I am sure the guy who sold it who is a mechanic had to know about) fixed hopefully all will be good. (Fingers crossed) We can never win with anything, I think my family was born with bad luck. 🙁

Other than all that fun not much else has happened.

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • No Strangers Here – I have read a few of this authors cozy mysteries but this is blurbed to be a dark, atmospheric crime novel so I am intrigued

Books read last week

  • Gone with the Wind – I did it!!! I finished on the last day of May! I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would seeing I hated the main character. I give it 4.5 stars docked half star for MC…lol. Had a lot of great side characters. Going to watch the movie now as it’s been like since I was 18 and all I can really remember is Clark Gable, but I mean he was pretty unforgetable. 🙂
  • Charlie Thorn and the Curse of Cleopatra – This hasn’t been my favorite series by this author but I will say this was probably my favorite so far in the series.
  • Egypt’s Fire – This was a blast to read, it’s a bit over the top, and corny but it was so much fun. I think young readers would have a lot of fun with it.
  • The Activist – This is the fourth book in the Theodore Boone series and my favorite so far of the series.
  • The Sea in Winter – It was a decent contemporary.
  • Death by Beach Read – My first book of June and I enjoyed it! It’s the 9th book and the lastest in the Lighthouse Library series so it’s nice to be all caught up again.

Currently reading

  • Bayou Book Thief – Starting my month off with some cozies…lol. I am enjoying this one so far even if I think the MC is a bit of a flake but she is not all bad…lol.
  • Live and Let Chai – I have read a lot of series from this author (Julie Anne Lindsey) but yet to try this series under one of her many names. So far I am enjoying it. Listening to this one and about 4 hours into it.
  • Neverseen – I really hope this one is more action packed than book three cause they are just getting bigger and bigger and seems to be the same thing over and over. Only 12 pages into this 672 page book and so no real opinion yet.

What might be up next

Not real sure but maybe:

  1. You never know with cars. Didn’t you get a Journey? Trying to remember. But we have one and it’s had a fair amount of issues too…

We’ve had tons of rain here and it’s been cool. Kinda weird for early June.

  2. I’m sorry your new used car is turning out to be a pain. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn out to be a lemon. I hope it starts working flawlessly for you. 😀

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about the car issues. Hopefully once the ball joints are fixed you’ll be good to go. I’m about to start the Bayou Book Thief and am glad to see you’re enjoying it even if the MC is a bit of a flake. Hopefully she’ll not be too annoying. Have a wonderful week!
