The Week In Review #374

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

This week was a bit of a long one dad had to have a procedure done and he couldn’t eat for a couple days and that makes me feel bad eating so I ended up eating poorly trying as I didn’t want to cook for one and feel the house with food smells…lol. Though after his appointment and he could eat he made up for it by eating like everything so this hasn’t been the healthiest of eating weeks. ๐Ÿ™

We got our first round of wood and all that means is stacking for me…booooo. My back still bothers me but I can’t let it stop me from getting prepared for the winter months.

We had some nice days and then it rained and now it’s chilly. I am already wanting my 80’s temps back!

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons – Saffron Everleigh is in a race against time to free her wrongly accused professor before he goes behind bars forever. It’s a debut historical mystery and I got sucked in by the cover…lol. Comes out in June! It boggles my mind that books that far in advance are out now…lol.
  • The Dream Spies – This is the sequel to The Nightmare Thief and so I am curious to see what happens.
  • Swashbuckler – This was on my anticipated reads list and so I am really curious about it.
  • A Three Book Problem – The next book in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series and it involves death by poison dart! I really enjoy this series.

  1. Spy School graphic novel – This was a surprise as I didn’t ask for it but I really have enjoyed the Spy School series as you can tell by one of the books I read this week…lol. This is the graphic novel of the first book, so it will be fun to see what they think the characters should look like. It’s also my first physical ARC from 2022!

Books read last week

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – I don’t get the hype, it bored me. I would have DNFed it but I was using it for a challenge prompt.
  • Blister – I am not having great luck with horror books as I haven’t liked many of the adult horror books I have read this month. This one was slow and only a bit of suspense but mostly a strange romance tale.
  • Mine – This one was spookier than any of the adult horror I have read! I really enjoyed it.
  • Spy School Revolution – Enjoyable and only one more to go to be caught up!
  • A Spell of Trouble – This was a cute and fun paranormal cozy.

Currently reading

  • Crota – Native American mythology horror and finally one that I am enjoying! I do like my creature books!
  • Faithless – Not enjoying this as much as I hoped as I love Shea, but only 15% in so it could redeem itself. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • A Discovery of Witches – A reread and loving it of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hope your dad is recovering well! And it’s gotten cold here too. Got in the 30’s last night and I was like nope lol. Too cold.

    Botanist’ss Guide looks pretty good.

  2. Hope your dad is doing okay and that your back feels better. Stacking wood sounds like no joke – especially when your back has been bothering you. I hope you read Be My Ghost soon. I’ll be curious to see what you think of it – it’s a bit different then her other series. Have a great week!

    • He is doing good, my back is another story…lol. I think Be My Ghost will go on my November TBR as I am curious about it. Not sure if I will fit it in this week. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am always worried with new series from an author I enjoy…lol. Afraid I won’t like it as much as the other series.

  3. I hope that your dad is feeling better now. Not being able to eat is hard! I am not ready to even start thinking about winter but I am glad that you have your firewood read. I hope that you have a great week and enjoy this week’s books!

  4. I hope your dad is feeling better.
