The Week In Review #373

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Okay, the weather can just stop right now. I am not ready for 39 degree nights!!! We had a lot of rain then it got cold and I am not ready! Where did fall go? πŸ™ Already counting down days till Summer…yep. That is right would rather be hot than cold.

Back is still bothering me but not as bad as it was but I have a feeling it’s not going to go away. I probably need a new matteress but those things are to expensive.

What a horror movie called The Toll, it was okay. I haven’t watched much of anything in the way of horror and October is about half over!Β  What!?

Have a great day and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Strangeville School is Totally Normal – This was on my anticipated list as it sounds like a super fun middle grade book where strange things are just a normal thing in the town.

Books read last week

  • What Lives in the Woods – A fun spooky middle grade, but I think the title is misleading as it has nothing to do with the woods…lol. It’s about a haunted house and sort of a mystery as Ginny tries to find out why and what is going on.
  • Relic – I LOVED this book! So much I went to the library and got book two…lol. It was so fast paced and the narrator did an amazing job. One of my favorites of the year for sure!
  • Marshmellow Malice – This is a fun series and this one was just as cute. I really love Jethro the pig!
  • The Last House on Needless Street – Not a big fan of this one. I can’t decide on a rating. Probably 2.5 but 3 on goodreads. I sort of guess a lot of it so the end wasn’t really that shocking, though there was a few things I didn’t get so that is why I am not sure about how I feel yet. Not a fan of the cat POV.
  • Picture of Dorian Gray– I didn’t see the appeal of this book. Dorian was horrid, I hated Sir Henry and his views on things. It’s a product of it’s time and I get that but just not what I expected. I love Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest but this was a miss for me. πŸ™
  • One Feta in the Grave – This series is just not for me but I am doing a series read along with some friends so I keep trying…lol. Good thing is there is only two books to go! I just don’t think restuarant cozies are my thing.

Looks like a lot but most of these were about half done last week so easy to finish up this week. That is the one thing about being a multibook reader…lol. Also had Audiobooks for most of them.

Currently reading

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – Over 50% and still don’t get the hype. It’s okay but kind of just well boring.
  • Blister – 53% into itΒ  and not sure why this is called a horror book when I haven’t run into anything horror about it except for the horrific thing that happened to Rachel’s face but that wasn’t in the book except for when she talked to Jason about it. At this point it’s feeling more like a romance. :/
  • Mine – 44% into this one and it is a spooky middle grade that feels more like horror than my adult horror book!
  • Discovery of Witches – Just starting it but it’s a reread and I am going to listen to it on audiobook. Doing a buddy read with some gals on discord!
  • A Spell of Trouble – 8% into this one. It’s a paranormal cozy and I have listened to it before but don’t remember and want to continue the series so listening to it to refresh my memory. πŸ™‚

  1. We started getting cooler this week too, but we’re in the pretty fall weather period. Although I did have to switch the heat on this morning so the cold is coming. You know I’m right there with you, I hate the cold. Sorry about your back — have you considered a mattress topper? They are much cheaper than a new mattress and can work wonders.

    Have a great week!

  2. I’m with you on the weather! It’s been unseasonably warm here, no sign of fall really haha, but now all of a sudden this weekend it’s cooler. Go figure.

What Lives In the Woods looks good. I like the look of The relic too- that seems familiar, I must have seen a review or something for it at some point. I would have expected more woods in the first one though haha as well! Glad you have some good spooky reads going on!

  3. I’m sorry you’re not enjoying the cold. We had a week or two of very warm weather (in the high 70s and low 80s) before it finally dropped into more seasonable high 60s for a day or two. Now we’ve got another week of low to mid 70s coming. I’m really ready for crisp fall days and sweater weather (and handknits!)

I reread the All Souls trilogy last year, so I’m not rereading them this year. I need to read Addie LaRue. And your paranormal cozy looks fun! Enjoy your books this week, and stay cozy.

  4. 39 already! That’s crazy cold. You might be able to get a mattress topper to put over your mattress that could help. You can get decent memory foam toppers and things like that. They’re not necessarily inexpensive but are way cheaper then a mattress. I had very mixed feeling about Dorian Grey. I hated all the characters and though Wilde was a little too impressed with his clever dialogue but I did like the concept. Have a great week!
