The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.
Howdy everyone! Not a lot to report on this week as I didn’t do much because my back is still really bothering me. I keep saying I need to go to the doctor but I just hate doing it but I think I might. My doctor is a DO not a MD so he can actually do adjustments so probably should have it pop on my back.
Saturday I went to craft day at my church and we made pumpkins. I love it but boy is crafting frustrating when you don’t know what your doing!
So I watched a few more episodes of Only Murders in the Building, it’s really kind of silly but dad seems to like it so I watch it with him.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Books I have added
Netgalley
- The Hanged Man’s Tale – Not read book one but I have it so I am just hoping I like it. 🙂
- Death by Beach Read – Always love finding a series I like has a new book coming out! 🙂
Books read last week
- Spy School Secret Service – Ben goes undercover at the white house and ends up being called a traitor after a bomb goes off as the evil Spyder organization tries their best to get Ben in trouble. It’s a cute quirky kids spy series. Doing my best to catch up on it this year.
- Enjoy the View – Barb and I buddy read this one and it was super cute and lots of fun, I really like this series!
- The Maltese Falcon – So what I learned reading this, hard-boiled detective = jerk. Sam Spade was horrible, he is a morally gray character who is a sexist who would do anything as long as he is paid and doesn’t care if he even has to stomp on you as long as he doesn’t get in trouble! Wasn’t a big a fan…lol.
- See Something – The latest book in the Witch City series and it was good and I am so glad to be caught up.
DNFed
- Stabbed in the Baklava – I was just bored. Reading this for a series readalong and a lot of us wasn’t a fan of book two. I gave book one only 3 stars so yeah this one was just not good. I skimmed the end to find out who the murderer was I had guessed right. Hopefully I like book 3 but I think restuarant cozies are not my thing.
Currently reading
- Murder at the Royal Botanic Gardens – I am really liking this one but I had to put it on the back burner while I read The Maltese Falcon for a Subgenre September readathon last week (read a mystery genre I haven’t tried). I am 54% in so I should finish it today I hope!
- Spy School Goes South – As I said I am trying to catch up on this series, mainly because I have an ARC of the latest book…lol. This series makes me chuckle. I am 41% into it reading it at 2x speed I have about 4 hours left.
- The Case of the Gilded Fly – This one is slow going because I am not a huge fan of the writing style, it’s very detailed in large block paragraphs, so just reading a chapter a day or when I am in the mood…lol.
What might be up next
How was your week? What did you get?
Hope your back feels better soon. Hopefully the DO can help.
Enjoy the View looks fun. Ooh the Maltese Falcon. 🙂 Botanic gardens looks good too.
Sorry to hear your back is still giving you grief! Thank heavens for great books and those you sure have.
Death by Beach Read seems like a fun read! I am going to take a look at the series.
Have a good week and happy reading!

Craft day sounds fun and cute pumpkin. Enjoy your books, the Witch City series sounds good.
I’ve never crafted anything like that so I’d probably be stressed too, lol. (But it’s really cute) Hope your back is better soon!
Death by Beach Read sounds really interesting, I am already wondering what will happen, LOL. Have a good week!
I’m putting off a chiropractor visit even though I know it will help tremendously and I like my chiropractor so I understand your feelings about the doctor! I’m not good at doing anything with my hands and I have such an image of how I want things to look that I get really frustrated. That’s too bad about the Tina Kashian. I’ve been thinking of picking up that series but have held off because I know you were kind of meh on the series and now I’m thinking I will give it a pass. Hope you’re having a good week!
