The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So had a bit of a scare with my dog Dresden and she was breathing funny, but all is well. I did take her to the vet and I think it was mainly worms and a bit of respiratory  problems. I have three meds for her and she is pretty much back to herself. She is eating up a storm and so I think before the reason she wouldn’t finish all her food was the worms cause she is like a garbage disposal now and wants me to keep feeding her…lol.

Watched a few things this week. Watched Those Who Wish Me Dead starring Angelina Jolie and it was a decent thriller. Then I found some older favorites on Peacock app. It has free and premium and these were on the free one version. I watched Cloak and Dagger it’s from 1984 and stars Henry Thomas and Dabney Coleman, I remember watching it a lot when I was younger, it was always a fun kids spy movie. Then watched They Live with Roddy Piper! Such a fun campy alien movie from 1988. 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Never Fall for Your Fiancée – I love a good fake fiancée trope! It’s about a Earl who hires a fake fiancée to keep his matchmaking mother at bay.
  • The Library of the Dead – This one just sound cool and I will admit the Stranger Things meets Sixth Sense has me very curious, but that is a lot to live up too! This is an audiobook for review from NG.
  • Death at the Crystal Palace – Kat Holloway book five and I can’t wait to read this one! I love this historical mystery series about a cook who is also a sleuth. 🙂
  • A Peculiar Combination – is a delightful mystery filled with spies, murder, romance, and the author’s signature wit. It’s set in WWII so I hope I like it as I am not a fan of books in that era but it sounded cool so I thought I would try it. It’s an audiobook for review from NG.

Books read last week

  • An Easy Death – I started this one back when it came out but for some reason I just never finished it. Hoopla is having a bonus borrow month and this one was on there as a dramatic audio so I grabbed it. It was like listening to an old radio show and was kind of cool. Listened at 2x speed.
  • Buttercream Bump Off – Book two in the Cupcake Bakery series and it was decent but the relationship drama was a bit much. Listened to it at   2x speed.
  • Blood Heir – I loved the Kate Daniel series and this is a spin off series about Julie who is Kate’s adopted daughter. So good!
  • Death Bee Comes Her – First in the Oregon Honeycomb mystery series and it was a decent start but had a few problems. Listened to it at 2x speed.
  • Off Season – I think I have become to desensitized when a cannibal book doesn’t phase me!! I do think this would have been a very interesting book if read back in the 1980s  when it came out, although in the afterward you find out that they  made him take a lot of the gore out. I actually read the uncut version which would have been extreme for the  80s lol. Listened to it at 2.10x speed.
  • Murder By Page One – First in the Peach Coast Library series and it was a decent start to a series. Listened to it at 2x speed.
  • The Hexed – #13 in the Krewe of Hunters series and enjoyable as any of the others ones. They are very formulaic but I like them. 🙂 Listened at 2x speed.

My audiobook listening go up in the summer and I am trying to do #bookadayinmay it’s a booktube challenge some are doing. I have never read 31 books in a month so we shall see…lol.

Currently reading

  • Blood Like Magic – Expect to see this on here a few weeks! It’s kind of slow going as right now I am finding it a bit boring, but hoping it will pick up. It’s 484 pages and I am only 100 pages into it, so it has time to pick up. I hope!
  • The Last Fallen Star – Rick Riordan presents book about Korean mythology and so far I am enjoying it. I am realizing that I am reading two witchy books at the same time and enjoying this one more than the other one!
  • Murder on Lexington Avenue – Detective Malloy gets wrapped up in a murder at a death school. He ends up needing Sarah’s help on this one because the wife of the dead man was pregnant and nobody knew! This is #13 in the series.

    • It was pretty messed up but if you have an old copy, then you probably have the less messed up version than I read…lol. The publisher made him cut out a lot of the disturbing things.

  1. Glad everything is all right with Dresden now. I just learned one of my favorite author’s books is in development for a show on Peacock, really hoping it will land on the free side but I am totally ready to sign up for a trial period if necessary! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. They Live is a trip! Ha and Cloak and dagger sounds fun too. I hope your dog is doing better, poor thing. that increased appetite does sound like good news though lol.

    Have a great week!!!

  3. I’m so glad Dresden is doing better. I know how worried you were. I am still on the wait list for Arsenic and Adobo and hope it comes in soon although I don’t know where I’ll squeeze it in. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Library of the Dead. And I still want to read Blood Like Magic even though I know you’re struggling with it.

  4. Oh so glad Dresden is feeling better! Definitely a relief. The cupcake series gets better but I don’t think it’s as good as the Library series. It does make me want to eat cupcakes though that’s not that hard! I can’t wait for the Jennifer Ashley series! It’s a favorite. Hope you’re having a great week!

  5. I really enjoyed An Easy Death but I bet the graphic audio was fantastic! I need to get back to the Cupcake Bakery series sometime soon. Blood Heir is so good! I am so glad that your dog is feeling better. I hope that you are having a great week!

  6. Glad to hear Dresden is OK! geez it’s scary when they get sick because they can’t tell you what’s up! Hope you’re having a good week!
