The Week In Review #336

January 24, 2021 Misc. 13

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Well this was a relatively uneventful week except for Wednesday being what it was and since I don’t like to get real political I will just say #notmypresident (this slogan worked for the democrats for 4 years so guess it works for me now…lol) and hope these four years go quickly and leave it at that. Moving on to better topics.

Didn’t watch much that was new this week but did watch a sci-fi movie called Skyline (I think), it was something dad was more into than me but it was okay.

The weather this week has been kind of up and down but not real bad but we have rain that started last night and for most of the day today, so that always makes itΒ  feel colder even if it’s not horrible cold temp wise. I hate drafty houses! We even have a chance at a wintery mix during the week which I am not thrilled about at all, but oh well, the bright side of things is we have gained about a half hour of daylight and it’s so lovely! πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Across the Pond – I am trying to read more MG contemporaries and I enjoyed this authors book from last year called A Field Guide to Getting Lost.Β So thought I would try her newest one, it’s set in Scotland so it can’t be to bad, right? πŸ™‚

From Publisher/Publicist

  • The Hedgehog of Oz – One of my anticipated reads! So excited to have gotten an ARC for this one! Nothing like a cute hedgehog book, right? πŸ™‚ Only a bit disappointed there are no illustrations in it but some grass on the chapter breaks. πŸ™

Books read last week

  • City of the Plague God – I thought this was okay but felt it lacked a bit of something to make it real good.
  • A Curious Incident – I really enjoyed this one! Probably my favorite of the series so far!

Series put on hold

  • The Invisible Library Series – Both Barb and I were just not really feeling this one. I decided that maybe it’s not a bingeable series for us. We still want to try it but we are putting it on hold and will be starting a new series next month, it might surprise you what we picked. πŸ™‚

Currently reading

  • Poldark – Slowly making my way though it but I do like it. I am just trying to get through as many January review books as I can, so it gets pushed to the side. I am 50% into it though so making progress. πŸ™‚
  • Amari and the Night Brothers – Just started it so around 10% but it has been interesting so far.
  • The Gulp – I must make time for this as I want it done by the end of January. I am still on the third story and there are five so I need to get cracking.
  • One Poison Pie – This is my current audiobook that I should be able to finish soon as it is a short one. I have 5 hours left and I really just started so probably listened to about an hour of it. It’s okay, probably not going to be a favorite from this author although it could grow on me as the series progresses.

What might be up next

How was your week? What did you get?

The weather was super nice here but the last few days it got really cold, we are suppose to get snow, maybe, this week.

The Hedgehog of Oz looks so cute. I love the cover!

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! Miss you!

    • Stormi

      I want super nice weather…lol. Today it’s rainy and 50 tomorrow 39 :(.

I hope that Hedgehog book lives up to it’s adorable cover!! πŸ™‚

Sometimes I can binge a series, it really just depends on how well I get on with it. As much as I like the idea of this series and the characters it just wasn’t flowing well as a back to back binge…lol.

I can’t wait to try our next adventure. πŸ™‚

Aw sorry to hear the political situation not to your liking, I know it’s tough when a side we don’t agree w/ is in power. Skyline sounds really familiar- I may have seen it lol. Hope your weather isn’t too bad- we’ve had cool weather here.

Your mysteries look good as always. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

Yeah, just hope I am not wrong about the new president.
Today the weather is nice but the next two days are going to be really cold. πŸ™

I need to concentrate on The Gulp I really want to get it done before the month is up! The third story is not to bad so far. πŸ™‚

I’m super curious about Shelter of the Damned. Our weather here can’t decide what it wants to do. Freezing drizzle and snow one day and two days later in the high 50s. The hedgehog book looks so cute as well.

I typically don’t do well with binging a book series no matter how much I love the series. Normally I have to mix up my genres but or I hit a slump but that hasn’t been a problem lately. I hate drafty houses too! We have a gap at the bottom of the door to the deck and I finally got a draft catcher thing to put in front of it and it has made such a difference! I was shocked by how much cold that maybe 1/4 of an inch was letting in. Hope you’re having a good week!
