The Week In Review #323

October 25, 2020 Memes 5

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Man, the weather around here is so weird! On Monday I had to build a fire it was so cold and rainy and by Wednesday I had to turn the AC on because it was in the 80’s! Now it’s back to cold and making a fire again! Is it springtime yet! 🙂

Yesterday I had a nail bar event at my church were another stylist and I put nails on some ladies. That was a different experience! It wasn’t a very large group so that was good for my first event where I put nails on other ladies…lol.

I had signed up for the Dewey’s 24 hour readathon but forgot about the nail thing at church and then the night before I got very little sleep so yep, no readathon for me…oh well…lol.

I think I watched only one movie this week it was called Bats and I had seen it a long time ago but was wanting to catch it again and finally got it  free on Pluto! I liked it most cause it has Lou Diamond Phillips in it…lol. Very ugly killer bats…lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • One Poison Pie – I love this authors first series and some of her others ones are growing on me. So I am hoping this one will to though I wasn’t a huge fan of the prequel novella. This will be the first full length one in her new cozy series. It’s a Kitchen Witches mystery series!

Books read last week

  • The Creak on the Stairs – Boy did I get bogged down in Icelandic words! Although I am not fixated on listening to people pronounce Icelandic words on youtube! I use to think German was hard to learn but I think Icelandic is! LOL Anyway this was an okay start to a new series and is a debut novel. Little slow to start but after I got going with it wasn’t to bad for a crime novel.
  • Wolf Hunt – This is a book that your not suppose to take to seriously as it’s pretty much a tongue in cheek silly werewolf book. It wasn’t great but it was a lot of fun and made me laugh a lot!

Currently reading

  • Betrayal – I just started this one and feel I am a glutton for punishment as it’s another Icelandic crime novel, but I signed up for the tour for this one and the other and they got put five days apart from each other ugh. So not a lot to say about it as I am only 5% into it.
  • These Violent Delights – I don’t think I read much on this one this week, but I need to get it done!
  • The Devil and the Dark Water – It’s okay but still not loving it. 8 hours left of the 17 as I haven’t listened to it much this week either.
  • Under Ordshaw -It’s a sci-fi/fantasy type that I got from an author and I was mostly curious cause of the cover…lol. It’s not bad. It’s about an underground place that has fairies and other creatures. Some want them all dead others aren’t sure about it. I have about 3 hours left and it was little over 11 hours.

What might be up next

These last days, I had all my windows open because of the sun and ensuing warmth, today it’s damp and raining all the time. The trees are beginning to put on some autumn colours, though, in a few days it will be glorious. I have a novel by Karin Slaughter on my physical shelf that I really need to get to. Have a great week and stay safe 🙂

A small crowd is definitely good for the first event. I hope it went well. Something always goes crazy in my life during readathon time so I’ve yet managed to even attempt one. I’m so on the fence about that Lynn Cahoon. I love Jill and Cat but am iffy about the farm to table series and I really didn’t love the prequel but at the same time… I’ll probably end up grabbing it last minute. Hope you have a great week!

I hope you have a good week! It’s been feeling like fall here too for sure, lots of rain last week. Definitely cooled off.

Hope your week ahead is a good one! 🙂
