The Week In Review #320

October 4, 2020 Misc. 19

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

This week went by fast and I kept thinking Friday was Saturday and was all messed up…lol. The weather this week has been fairly chilly and I got to admit I am NOT liking it…lol. I had to turn my heater on in my room at night. I am so not ready for colder weather, I know a lot of you areΒ  but I am not. πŸ™

I watched the new season of The Worst Witch and it was cute. Then I decided to try Julie and the Phantoms which is kind of a teen musical but the first episode wasn’t bad so might continue. It’s about a girl who can see these three guys who were a boy band group that died from bad hot dogs…lol. They have been dead 25 years but it only feels like they just died and they can play their instruments and people can hear them. From the trailer I think they form a band some how.

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • They Never Learn – Scarlett Clark is an exceptional English professor. But she’s even better at getting away with murder. Okay, you can’t say that line there didn’t just draw you in…lol. πŸ™‚
  • Wishes and Wellingtons – This just sounded cute and it’s about a kid who finds a djinn inside a sardine can! πŸ™‚

Books read last week

  • The Forever House – This is my third book by this author and I have to say my least favorite which is a bummer but I didn’t like this one much at all.
  • A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting – Since I found out that this was going to be a new Netflix show I did a reread in the form of audiobook as I found it on Hoopla and two other books in the series I never read so will be doing that soon. πŸ™‚ Still cute! (Thanks Michelle for the heads up on the show!) 7 hours and 31 minutes at 2x speed.
  • The Tourist Attraction – Cute contemporary romance set in Alaska! 11 hours and 36 minutes at a fast speed on my computer.
  • Enola Holmes and the Missing Marquess – So want to try the show but needed to check out the series first…lol. It was only 4 hours and 31 minute so took no time to listen to at 1.75x.

Currently reading

Β
  • Her Final Prayer – I am a little over halfway on this one and enjoying it.
  • The Easton Falls Massacre – This is a novella and a bit slow to start so I hope it picks up a little.
  • Sing Like No One’s Listening – This is a YA contemporary that might be up on here a few weeks as I am just reading a bit on it at night. πŸ™‚ It’s not bad so far.
  • Beast and Geeks – The second book in A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting. Not officially started but will be today.

What might be up next

I would give anything to trade weather with you, I’m so over the heat! Its going to be in the 90s today😬 I read The Easton Falls Massacre and honestly didn’t love it that much. But it does pick up! Have a good week, Stormi!

    • Stormi

I would trade weather with you too! πŸ™‚ I am afraid I am not going to care much for Easton Falls Massacre which sucks…lol. I was hoping for a cool short read but I am 35 pages in and blah.

  2. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I’m going to add The Worst Witch to my list of “shows to watch when I can find the time.” And Enola Holmes, though I’ll probably watch that one pretty soon. A

As for the weather, I am very heat-intolerant, so I am loving the cooler temperatures. It’s in the 60s today — heavenly!

    • Stormi

I did watch Enola Holmes and it was okay but I hate that the aged the characters from the actual book.

  3. Berls

Nope! Not me! I’m enjoying the fall weather, which for us is high 70s and low 80’s. Once I have to turn in the heat, I am not happy.

I hate when I think it’s Friday or Saturday and it’s not. Lol it’s such a downer!

    Have a great week!

    • Stormi

I like the 70’s and 80’s but not when it gets below like 65 because then the nights are like in the 40’s burrrr.

    • Stormi

Yes, it’s a book series and the MC is younger than the movie. πŸ™ I hated that they aged her and the boy so they could have a bit of ‘romance’ UGH.

  4. Greg

I like it to cool off a little but not too much haha. We had to turn the furnace on it was getting a little too chilly at night…

The Monstr Hunting book looks fun and especially if it’s going to be a show. Happy reading this week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, I totally don’t mind a bit of a cool down but when I have to turn the heat on it’s to cold…lol.

The Monster Hunting books are a lot of fun!

Hope your on your way to feeling better!!!

  5. Katherine

It’s warmer today but I was freezing last week. I hate being cold. Love The Worst Witch! I think we are going to watch Hocus Pocus this week. Somehow I’ve never watched it. Hope you’re having a great week!

    • Stormi

Yes, last week was a bit chilly! I can’t believe you have never watched Hocus Pocus!!! Hope you enjoyed it!

  6. Literary Feline

I wish I could share some of our warmer weather with you! My daughter is a fan of the Worst Witch and watched the newest season. I haven’t had a chance to watch it. Our family really liked Julie and the Phantoms.

I hope you enjoy Wishes and Wellingtons and They Never Learn. Both sound really good! We watched Enola Holmes last weekend and enjoyed it. I wonder if my daughter would like the books. Worth a try! She really likes mysteries.

I hope you have a great weekend!
