The Week In Review #317

September 13, 2020 Misc. 12

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

This week was not as busy as last week, not as much running around. My memory is getting bad as I can’t remember if there was anything noteworthy to talk about…lol. Well, you besides the stuff I would rather not talk about. ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh I remembered something, I made my first small batch of salsa from tomatoes from the garden. I got three pints and a little extra I kept out for using at suppertime. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s starting to feel a bit like fall and to be honest as much as I love fall things I am not really ready for fall. I mean seriously I can make pumpkin things anytime of the year…lol. I am just so not ready for the cold that comes after fall.

Started watching Cobra Kai since Netflix has it now as they are going to be adding a third season. I watched the first season and its fun, kind of nostalgic as it has bits of Karate Kid flashbacks in it and just seeing grown up versions of Ralph Macchio (Daniel) and William Zabka (Johnny).

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Her Final Prayer – I read the first one in this series early this year and was asked if I wanted to join the tour for this one so of course I couldn’t resist…lol. It’s the mystery involving things around a polygamy community which is an experience to read about…lol.

Books read last week

  • Clown in a Cornfield – This was a decent horror but I don’t think it’s really a YA horror in the fact it was a lot more gory and any YA horror I have read, felt more like adult with some YA themes.
  • The Remaking – I wasn’t a huge fan of this one, it was kind of strange and was in a weird format and I really hated the MC. The last section of the book was the most interesting part.
  • Timeless – This was decent end to series though there was some things at the end that felt a little hard to believe about certain characters. 11 hours and 25 minutes at 1.65x speed.

Currently reading

  • Misfits – I am about 17% into it and so far it’s not bad, we haven’t gotten to the cool stuff yet. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s about the urban legend of the Melon Heads!
  • The Westing Game – I don’t know if it’s cause it’s older or the writing style but kind of not interesting but only 16 pages into it…lol.
  • Into the Drowning Deep – I have about 2 hours left of this one and I am liking it but there are things in it I could have done without. 17 hours and 15 minutes at 1.65x.

What might be up next

Color Street

This week will be filled with getting ready for a party on the 19th. How did it already get this far in the month, I swear it’s just started. Flying by! So can’t wait for the Halloween nails! If all goes well they come out the week of the 20th. Anyone want to do a Halloween party? ๐Ÿ™‚

My newest mani. ๐Ÿ™‚

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Why is fall coming everywhere but to me? Lol. I am soooo ready for fall. I am ready to kick the heat to the curb! I feel like we’re still not anywhere close to fall temps, it’s been 10 degrees cooler than usual but it doesn’t make much of a difference in the long run!

Nice new read! That’s a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

We had some 80’s but where mostly in the 70’s and this morning it was 57! I am surprised your not cooler since your in the upper part of Missouri compared to me.

  2. Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy

I’ve got to start growing tomatoes because I love salsa and I can never find really good salsa in the stores. I mean, I guess I could just buy tomatoes and make it, but it sounds better saying I grew my own tomatoes! Lol. Love the nails!

    • Stormi

Yeah, you can also buy canned diced tomatoes and make your own but there is just something about out of the garden tomatoes that are just so much better than any other tomato and it’s pretty much the only time I eat them.

  3. Michelle@BecauseReading

I miss growing tomatoes but this year was just not the year for it. I might do potted tomatoes next year if I am still in this house.

I am excited for the cooler weather. This morning was glorious while I was walking the dog. I can’t wait for it to stay like that all day.

I started rewatching Risoli and Isles and have Cobra Kai on my watch list. Maybe this week, my husband and I did watch the Impractical Jokers Movie and that was pretty good but we love that show and binge it all the time.

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

  4. Stormi

I would most definitely suggest a couple potted tomato plants if you can’t have a whole garden, maybe even one for peppers. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know you love your cold weather…lol. I don’t mind how it is right now I just don’t want it any colder…lol.

I need to watch Rizzoli and Isles, I have watched it some times but never the whole series.

  5. Katherine

Fall is definitely not here yet but we are down to not quite oven level temperatures so I’ll take that! Yay for the salsa! I love homemade salsa and I’m sure it was delicious. I really liked Greenglass House but it’s a bit strange so I’ll be curious to see what you think of it! Have a great week!

  6. Greg

I’m liking Cobra Kai. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’m seeing the Hunter Shea book around. I’m the same way. Some weeks I’m like- what even happened this week haha?

  7. Yvonne

Her Final Prayer is coming up on my reading list too. I enjoyed the first book very much so I was glad to read the first.

Hope you have a great week!

  8. Anne - Books of My Heart

Well I’m glad for the shift in weather here but fall means 70s-80s which is perfect. It’s much easier to do yardwork when it’s not so hot. The tomatoes though, love the hot. I still have some tomatoes and lots of herbs and hope to do the fall season planting in week or so. Enjoy your new reads!

Anne – Books of my Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  9. Berls

I know, I don’t look forward to the cold either. I enjoy fall, but I wish we could skip winter and go to spring! Yay for salsa – I just FINALLY discovered jalepanos growing after months and giving up.

Hope you’re having a great week!
