The Week In Review #314

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So my week was mostly just working on making sure I had everything ready for the Color Street party I had which went pretty good! YAY! Had a really great hostess!

Dad went fishing Friday night and I thought he was going to be back around 2am and he didn’t get home till 6am and there is no signal where he was so talk about a worried daughter who got no sleep…lol. So Saturday I was pretty tired and I think I will still be pretty tired today as well…at least him and my cousin got 6 catfish! 🙂

Tomatoes are starting to turn red! YAY! I also collected a few cabbage but they are kind of small but better than nothing…lol. Garden wasn’t the best this year but we got started late and I really need to study up on gardening and fertilizer and maybe how to prepare it before planting.

Other than that not a lot going on here since can’t do much still unless you mask up and I would prefer to stay home than mask up. Yep, I am that person.

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Broadcast 4 Murder – My favorite series! So of course I had to pick up this new one…lol. This is such a fun cozy series.’
  • Truth, Lies and Second Dates – It’s suppose to be a sweet and sassy romance so I guess I will see…lol. Them darn emails from publishers get me every time. 🙂

Books read last week

  • Devolution – Finally finished it and well, I just wasn’t that impressed. By the time the action of the Bigfoot got there I had really lost interest in what was happening and the ending was really just meh.
  • Lola Benko, Treasure Hunter – This was a decent middle grade. First in a series and was just a bit slow for an adventure book but maybe the next one will pick up.
  • A Better Man – This is the last of the Penny books that are actually out. Now I can get to my Netgalley audio of the newest one! I can’t say this is a favorite series but decent enough I don’t mind continuing. 13 hours and 8 minutes at 1.65x.
  • Chili Cauldron Curse – So I guess I didn’t realize this was a short novella although it’s first in a new series. I thought it could have been better and probably would have been if there was more to it. Listened to it on Window Media Player on my pc on fast and it was 2.4 hours, so yeah listened to that in a day, super short.
  • True Blue – I have been trying to get to books on my shelves and found this on overdrive on audio and it wasn’t to bad. It’s actually my first by this author…surprise! 🙂 Audio was 14 hour and 2 minutes and I listened at 1.65x and just finished it last night while typing this up! 🙂

Looks like a lot but three of these were half done at the beginning of the week so easy to finish and then a super short one. 🙂 I actually didn’t think I read/listened to that much this week, but because most were half done it made it look like a lot more…lol.

Currently reading

  • Girl, Unframed – I know! I am almost finished, I have about 150 pages to go so it’s going down this week…lol. It’s just not what I was hoping for but want to finish to see what exactly happened. I was sucked in by the word mystery when they pitched it to me and there is nothing mystery about this book…lol.

Going to try a readathon from booktube called Summerween so really haven’t started anything new as it starts on Monday.

What might be up next

These are all for the readathon, yeah ambitious I know unless I can find some audiobooks…lol.

  1. Okay, I must know nothing about fishing because I didn’t realize you go in the middle of the night 😮. I would have been worried too. Glad he’s okay and just was very successful fishing!

I just pulled tomatoes that were starting to look like they wanted to get pruney off my tomato plant and they hadn’t turned. I’m setting them out to see if maybe they’ll finish off the vine? I already got 8 good tomatoes earlier this season though. I think my tomato plant is done for the year. Time to start planning for the fall. I also need to better educate myself and plan… Maybe fall garden?

    Have a great week!

A lot of fish bit really good at night! Lots of people go night fishing, I just wasn’t expecting an all night excursion for my 72 year old dad!
Yeah, pull them inside and let them ripen, that will be fine. I have a whole bunch in my window seal in the kitchen, there is a chemical they put off that when put together in a group it helps them ripen even off the vine.

  2. That must have been scary, not knowing where your dad was. We’ve gotten so used to having instant communication that it’s terrifying when you can’t contact someone and you don’t know where they are. I’m glad he’s fine!

At least you got some gardening in! The one poor little mint plant I ordered from Walmart started to die practically as soon as it got here. And it’s pretty hard to kill mint. I don’t know what’s wrong with it; the new leaves keep turning brown and shriveling up, and the whole plant is turning yellow. Oh, well, maybe I can garden a little next year.

    • Stormi

Especially since they were in a boat in the dark! He is 72 years old so it took him some time to recoop from that adventure he slept most of Saturday…lol.
Oh that is a bummer about the mint plant!

  3. I love David Baldacci and would love to read more of his work as I can. I want to try Louise Penny. Tomatoes need sun and heat. But when it gets cold, you can bring them inside. I’m getting organized for my fall planting in about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks! I hope they are tasty too but no telling when we eat them as they are at my cousins and he invites us for fish frys some times…lol.

  4. I’m about halfway through Devolution. The characters from the journal entries are driving me a little crazy with their self-important, heads-in-the-sand attitudes right now. But since I’m currently located in the Pacific Northwest and I’ve visited Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens recently, the setting is a lot of fun for me! I also like that the suspense is building, like in Jaws. I don’t know what’s going on yet and that makes it even scarier.

    Enjoy your week!

  5. Glad the party went well! That’s a bummer about Devolution… I was thinking of that one but after seeing your thoughts I might skip it. Or pick it up down the road. I hate it when the action takes too long to get started lol.

    • Stormi

Yeah, to be honest it’s a short read as it’s under 300 pages and I was over halfway before any sign of a bigfoot and then it still took a while to get to the action part. 🙁 Check it out from the library like I did. 🙂

    • Stormi

Yeah, I like fish. I feel sorry for you for having to wear a mask all the time. Hope your not getting any bad storms out your way with all those hurricanes a happening.

    • Stormi

Me too, and I think I might have one party off of that one, so fingers crossed though I would like to get more than one. I am only about 10% into Ghost Tree so still not sure about it as it’s a bit slow but nothing has really happened yet. 🙂

  6. it has been weeks since i have left the house and i am getting a bit antsy. most of the time i love staying at home, doing my thing, whatever that is. maybe a drive to the beach is in order, even if all i do is look out the window and take some pics

We only really go out when we have money and need to buy groceries which is twice a month usually. Though we do attend church every Sunday.

  7. So do you eat the catfish? My dad used to fish all the time and whatever he caught if it wasn’t too small we would eat. The small fish would go in the crab trap and at the end of the summer we would have crabs. I really do miss that.

I don’t mind masks, I just prefer to say home. lol

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading!
