BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I might have been one of the few out there that didn’t care much about the eclipses and I was very upset that my first day of class got cut short or was basically nonexistent as he let us out after only about 12 minutes for a party on The Quad. Um, who cared I wanted to do photoshop, I had a ride who dropped me off! πŸ™ I had to hurry and call my dad so thankfully he was going shopping in town and didn’t go straight home.

So I got those shots in my knees and they didn’t hurt as much as I thought they would but I am not sure if they are doing much good. At first I thought they were but now I am not sure cause my left knee still hurts a lot. I think I am just destined for bad knees and the only thing to do is try and lose this weight. It did make me feel pretty loopy the first day as I got a double shot (one in each knee) and he said it would make my sugar spike as well as my blood pressure so that wasn’t much fun…lol.

Despite no class on Monday I did enjoy my Wednesday class as we messed around with paintbrushes and changing a picture to make it look better without looking like it was photoshoped. πŸ™‚

Please send some possie vibes this way as my dad is going to have hernia surgery on Tuesday and that is going to be a long day as we have to be there at 6 am and the surgery doesn’t start till 8 am. Depending on how he is feeling the next day I may have to miss class to help him around the house as he is almost 70 so I don’t know how this will affect him. He won’t be able to lift hardly anything for like 6 weeks…blah. Men are kind of wimpy anyway. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley/Edelweiss (The 2018 edition!)

Β Β Β

  • Devils Unto Dust – For someone who doesn’t read a lot of zombie types here I go…now it doesn’t say zombie but ‘Infected peopleβ€”shakesβ€”attacked the living and created havoc and destruction’, sounds sort of like zombies…if not I am cool with that but I want to not be like ewww zombies…lol.
  • Dread Nation – So I seen this on Barb’s Can’t Wait Wednesdays post and I wanted it. I am not a huge zombie fan but it’s set in the civil war time with undead soldiers sort of messing up the whole war thing. It’s really turned things upside down and just sounds fun. πŸ™‚
  • A Treacherous Curse – The third book in the Veronica Speedwell series and I can’t wait to read it!
  • What Doesn’t Kill You – Willa thought being a PI would be better than being a cop but she is about to find out different. Sounds like a fun mystery.

I can’t believe these all come out in 2018!!

Books read last week

Β Β Β Β

  • Cheerleading Can Be Murder – This was okay but I was expecting MURDER…lol. My friend says I took the words to literal but it’s horror and it says murder what am I suppose to think. πŸ™‚ (Kindle Freebie)
  • A Wee Homicide in the Hotel – The third book in the Scotshop mysteries and I enjoyed it though it wasn’t my favorite. (Audio)
  • The Wrong Girl – It just fell flat and I wasn’t that impressed. πŸ™ (Audio)
  • Margaritas, Marzipan and Murder – Cape Bay Cafe mystery #3 and it was a fun short mystery just like the other two. (Audio)
  • The Devils You Know – Just freaking weird and strange but I liked it…lol. Don’t find a lot of good YA horror and so I really liked this one. (Review ARC)

This week was Bout of Book 20 and so I went the audio route so I could get in more reads. πŸ™‚

Currently reading

Β Β

  • Good Me, Bad Me – The writing style is a bit different so I am struggling with it but I really like the premise so I am sticking it out.
  • The Girls in the Water – I had put this one aside to read The Devils You Know cause I just had too…lol.
  • Becoming Dragon – Thought it was about time I dig into Dragon Point and it gives me something different than mysteries. πŸ™‚

On the first of September I will be starting Halloween Bingo from my Booklikes blog and so I might have to put these books on hold for ones that fit my bingo card…lol. I have a pretty cool list though I probably won’t get to them all but I have two months as it doesn’t end till Oct. 31st. If you have a booklikes blog you should check it out!

What might be up next

  1. OOh nice new reads!! Saw some of these on Edelweiss. Debated about trowing my name into the hat. Though I can’t remember the last time Edelweiss publishers approved my request. Which is so weird because I get better luck with Netgalley! Though I still have pending ones on there for a month or so now! It drives me nuts that they make me wait so long! The suspense kills! LOL!

Hope you enjoy your lovely new reads!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

I have been lucky to be pre-approved for HC so I can get their books but I have a hard time getting books on EW too not sure why it’s so tough. I hate when they make you wait forever, some times I even forget I requested the book…lol.

  2. Sorry you had to miss your photoshop class for an eclipse party. :/ I loved seeing the eclipse, but it took no time at all. I basically ran outside, put some glasses on, looked at the sky, and ran to my meeting. It was fun, but it didn’t halt my day.

Sending positive vibes for your dad this week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, it was really fast and it only looked like we had a slightly overcasted day so I was kind of like big whoop…lol.

  3. Aw, that’s too bad the shots didn’t help much. Knees can be so tricky, I’ve had knee problems myself. I hope you can make it better somehow! I remember, special exercise really helped. But you have to have a physiotherapist for that. No good on your own… Cause they’re tricky πŸ™‚
Best hopes for your dad’s OP! Good luck. True about men being wimpy πŸ™‚ took my Bf to get a small thingie taken care of last week, barely a scratch and he nearly fainted πŸ˜€ I’ve had that procedure done twice and nothing happened. Was I surprised! Thankfully, everything ended well πŸ™‚ I guess they’re just wimpy in another way than us πŸ˜€
Have a great reading week πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

I am hoping maybe it was just cause it was the first time and if I do it again it will help better, I don’t know. I do know getting some weight off my poor knees will help. πŸ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by!

      • Yeah, that is true! My first back shot didn’t help much either, but the doctor said that’s why they schedule two or three, because it’s normal. It actually started kicking in like two weeks later and got much better after the second shot. So let’s keep our fingers crossed πŸ™‚

  4. I can understand why classes were released. It’s been nearly 40 years since the last eclipse across North America. Were you in the path of totality? We only got about 70%. I was grateful when a professor cancelled our class to watch the inauguration in 2008. I didn’t give a hoot about Obama, but I had never watched one before. I’m sorry you didn’t get to have your class. Sounds like you’re having fun already, though! I’m sorry the shots didn’t seem to work. Maybe you should ask the doctor if that’s to be expected or not normal? I have knee problems, and I’ve been having persistent pain in my left knee nearly all summer. I hope your dad’s surgery goes well. A lot of the prep time is just sitting around. I had to check in for my surgery in 2015 at 7 AM. They got all my lines and IVs set up in 10 minutes and I was left to wait for an hour. I fell back asleep.

    • Stormi

Nah, not much happened by the way of eclipse here which is why I didn’t bother with it. If I would have been in the total darkness area it might have been worth looking up at…lol. I was more aggravated over the wasted gas since I live in the town over.

  5. Injections in your knees sound painful – don’t think I would like that. I hope you can get to grips with Good Me Bad Me as I thought it was a good read (so want everyone else to like it too!)

    • Stormi

Maybe you can help me out…is she thinking in her head or something. It’s just the way the book reads is not like what I am use too. πŸ™‚ Like when she says something like Mike ask me how I am doing, instead of “How are you doing?” Mike asked. Then some times it’s like she is talking to her mom but she is not cause she isn’t there. That is what I am struggling with it’s the style. πŸ™ I want to like it! πŸ™‚

  6. I loved Becoming Dragon. Need to read more of her books. You’ll enjoy it, Stormi. I hope your father’s surgery goes well and that he recovers quickly. I’m excited to see how your classes go now that your back. Sorry also to here your shots aren’t as effective as you’d hope. I have pain in both knees and just have to deal with it. My left one is tricky and sometimes just gives out on me. Oh for the younger days:)

  7. Photoshop class sounds so fun, and the eclipse was cool but we weren’t in totality and honestly, I didn’t think it was THAT big a deal. Maybe I’m just a buzzkill lol. But it wasn’t like an amazing moment in my life or anything ha ha.

Cheerleading Can Be Murder looks fun, sorry to hear it wasn’t quite murder-y enough. I would feel the same way.

Good luck with your dad’s surgery, hope it goes all well. And we are not wimpy! Well okay maybe we are. A little bit. Sometimes. πŸ™‚

  8. Sorry to hear about the short class on Monday. The teacher should have warned you all. I also missed the eclipse but I wasn’t too excited about it. It would have been different if we were on the direct path of the eclipse. Good luck on your Dad’s surgery and I hope he has a speedy recovery. Have a great week!

  9. I really wasn’t all that excited about the eclipse before it happend but when I got off work early and saw it, it was kind of neat. Sorry you had to miss class because of it. Great new books this week! I hope your dad has an easy time of surgery this week and I hope your knees feel better.

  10. How very annoying! I work at college as a tutor and the concept of just cancelling a class without making a BIG effort to let our students know in advance – especially as this is something everyone KNEW was coming up – is unheard of. I think you have every right to make a complaint. Sorry to hear your knees are so sore – I used to get loads of knee trouble to the extent that I couldn’t sleep, but since I’ve cut out sugar from my diet it’s made a huge difference to the amount of joint pain I generally suffer, including a chronic back condition… Best of luck with your father’s op – I’ll be thinking of you all. Have as good a week as possible in the circumstances:)

  11. Sending you and your dad good vibes. Mr. Barb had hernia surgery almost 10 years ago and it went relatively easy. However, it caused him pain for almost a year afterwards – nothing major but just enough to know it was there at times. Devils Unto Dust looks really good. You’re really branching out into the zombie world huh?

  12. Sounds like you had a tough week. The shots sometimes work, but I’ve never had luck with them. My husband and recently his Dad both had hernia surgery. Upper is easier than lower. The first few days even getting up is difficult. Depending on your Dad’s overall health it could be a week before he is up on his own. Good luck!

  13. You got some really good reads this week. I have the audiobook of House of Furies, but I am horrible at listening to books. But it sounds sooo good. I hope you enjoy all the new books. And thank you for stopping by yesterday Sunday Post. πŸ™‚

  14. I hope your knee pain eases up. My sister has had all kinds of shots for her back and knees. She says sometimes they help, sometimes they don’t and that it often depends upon the skill of the person administering the shot. Good vibes for your dad’s surgery tomorrow. I hope all goes well and that he’s not too difficult of a patient for you πŸ˜‰
