BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So on Monday I went to the doctor and I was really worried about my heart and blood pressure. I just wasn’t feeling well and my chest was heavy and my arms just achy. I was having bad headaches and sort of shaky feeling. I felt like it was hard to breath (still get that feeling), but he is like your lungs and heart sound fine. He even did the EKG to make sure about my heart but I passed. He didn’t think my blood pressure was that high but since I felt icky he went ahead with a 25 mg blood pressure pill and I must say I feel a lot better. Β Still having breathing problems but I am thinking it’s the humidity plus my belly fat. I really got to work on getting rid of that as I think I am just really unhealthy and it makes me have some breathing problems. I am just glad it wasn’t my heart, second round of test I have done with the doctor and I passed everything even though I am unhealthy so I am sure it’s that belly fat. πŸ™ Β Oh and I got arthritis in both of my knees and have to have shots I just haven’t worked up the courage yet…lol. Β So yes, getting older really sucks. πŸ™ Β But yay to feeling a lot better. πŸ™‚

So you will notice I haven’t read much this week. Between my little cousin thinking I should talk to him on the phone and play phone games and the gang that work at a local cafe introducing me to World of Warcraft, this week has been a bit of a gaming week and not a reading one!!! What!!! I know it’s kind of weird…lol. It hasn’t really bothered me so maybe I just needed a bit of a book break. πŸ™‚ I don’t think I will get sucked in to WoW because after the free up to level 20 you have to pay for it and I am not that huge of a computer gamer for that…lol. It is fun though. πŸ™‚

So that is my week in a nutshell! πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

Β
  • 12 Days at Bleakly Manor – I still can believe I just picked up a Christmas book!!!
  • Say No More – I still need to read Gone to Dust but couldn’t pass up getting book 3 of the Gravedigger series! πŸ™‚

That is it though so not bad, eh. πŸ™‚

Audiobook from author

  • The Revelation – So when the author asked if I would listen to this one I was curious because she said it was a musical. Hip Hop meets history and it’s about Martin Luther and this is only episode one and only a 26 minute listen so I thought why not. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

  • Highland Spy – This wasn’t a bad one but I think I was hindered by the fact that maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a romance. The narrator though I think I could listen to all day. πŸ™‚

Currently reading

Β Β
  • Pixie Piper and the Matter of the Batter – This one is cute and I am enjoying it.
  • 30 Second Death – I really liked Death in Advertising and I couldn’t help it I just had to start it and well it kind of bumped Pixie out of the running which is why I didn’t get either one finished…lol.
  • Death Al Dente – Just started it but I really like this author. πŸ™‚

DNF

  • I didn’t want to I really didn’t but I just have no desire to go back to it. I wasn’t really a fan of Arrowood, but I liked his partner Barrett. Arrowood hated Sherlock Holmes but I think I hated Arrowood…lol. πŸ™‚ I am really bummed. Maybe I will try again but for now it’s out.

What might be up next

Β Β

What I watched

You know what I had one of those I didn’t do anything days yesterday and binge watched the new netflix show The Worst Witch…lol. I always liked that one and the new series is really cute. I can’t wait to see what happens to Mildred and the gang next season! I shall tell you all about it on Wed’s #bingewatchersclub post. πŸ™‚

Oh and I watched the first episode of Midnight, Texas and I liked it. I must admit I found the book a bit on the boring side for a mystery and I have yet to try book two though I have it but I found the show to be cheesy, quirky, and fun and that worked for me…lol.

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Well glad there was nothing seriously wrong! That can be scary. Even with all my time spent in the hospital as a kid, you’d think as an adult I would be totally fine with being at the doctor! But nope! For whatever reason I am not. My heart is always racing for no reason really and I know what I am there for and what’s going to happen and all that. But still my heart races and I’m sure my blood pressure is slightly high because I can’t get myself to calm down until I leave.

Nice new reads though! Haven’t heard of them but I hope you will enjoy them!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

I have never been a fan of doctors but I do okay with them, but not so sure how I will like him after he sticks me with a needle in my knees…lol.

      Have a great week!

Relieved to hear that it isn’t heart trouble – I have finally managed to lose the excess weight I was carrying and have felt so much better for it – if that’s any help. I also love the new Worst Witch series, which we all watched together. Do be careful with the World of Warcraft – it is very morish. My son used to be hooked on the the blessed game:). Have a great week and hopefully, with a lot less worry. Hope the knees feel better soon! My Sunday Post

Hope your feeling better. I’m not a big WoW fan, as I don’t really like play with other people. I’ll play with the kids, because they force me, and that about it. I’ve been gaming a lot more myself since we bought the x-box. But sometime you need to change things up to keep it interesting.

I’m so glad it was good news about your heart! That is scary. I have a lot of belly fat too (and chunky thighs). I bought a sweat band to wear around my stomach when I go on walks, and you can wear it all day. Just from wearing it this summer on occasional walks I’ve lot some belly fat. I also do a Plexus regimen and I have lost several inches around my hips. There’s a flash sale tonight if you’re interested in buying a product to try and see if you like it. A lot of folks have also seen an improvement with other medical issues, which might help your blood pressure. I always thought I would never sheer down my stomach because that’s the hardest area it seems to work on, but I’ve lost a little. If I exercised more regularly, I’d be seeing more results…but time. I hope you can get in for the knee shots soon. Knee pain is no joke. Last month I was like a phone game zombie. I finally had to delete a game from my phone because I was literally obsessed with it and did nothing else all day. Fun in moderation, right? I hope you have a great week!

I’ve never played WoW but I’ve played some of the other MMO games. They are a huge time sink, and yeah when you go from free to play to monthly subscribing it can be tough to justify unless you really love it or play a lot.

Glad to hear you got a clean bill of health on your lungs/ heart. That’s always scary when you’re not sure.

Hope death Al Dente is good, I liked the Budewitz book I read.

I’m glad you are feeling better. Grandpa landed back in the hospital yesterday, on my late Dad’s birthday nonetheless, so I sort of laid low all weekend. Sorry to hear about Arrowood. I’ll definitely look to grab that one from the library if I decide I want to read it. I’ll have to look for that Netflix series. Have you watched “The Good Witch?” It’s cute and it’s a Hallmark original. I know there’s several movies as well.

I need to see if Midnight, Texas is On Demand or on Hulu. I really meant to watch it and then forgot all about it. I haven’t read the book yet but I’ve been wanting to and the preview of the show looked really good. Since you found the book on the boring side I may just stick with the show. Too many books to spend time on boring books. That’s too bad about Arrowood. I love the cover but it sounds like it’s a definite DNF.
I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling so crummy. Hopefully the blood pressure meds will help. That’s good that your heart looks in good shape and that your lungs sound good. We are starting South Beach today to see if we can get my husband’s sugar down but I’ve actually had good luck in the past with just tracking and staggering calories. It takes a lot of willpower (especially on low calorie days) but it’s free and really focuses more on portion size than on lots of cooking. Have a great week!

I’m so glad the doctor went well for you! And that the blood pressure pill seems to be helping. Sounds like the doctor isn’t worried, so that’s a relief, right? I know, I’m with you on the weight. Why won’t it just go away on it’s own? LOL!

I’ve never played WoW but I think I don’t have time to really get into it. So I never try it. I love gaming, but it’s very time consuming (for me at least) and I’m just too busy ! Happy reading/playing πŸ˜‰ !

Several months ago I started gaining weight fast. Went to the doctor and it was my thyroid. We’re still working on getting the right dosgae so I have to have blood tests every month. Seems to be working somewhat as I’ve stopped gaining weight. I imagine some extra exercise will get rid of what I’ve gained. Easier said….. I’m so glad it wasn’t a heart problem, Stormi. As for the knees and shots. I have arthritis too. Not too bad yet but it is painful and sometimes I get shooting pains. I’ve been using some joint medicine and it seems to be helping quite a bit now. I’ll check the ingredients and get back to you. It needs to have three major ones to do the job. Have fun gaming. It’s nice to do something different, isn’t it:)
