BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So Monday is my last day of Graphic Arts illustrator and in August I start Graphic Arts photoshop (the one I really wanted to try). I have really liked illustrator and learned a lot and have a lot more to learn. We present the magazine layouts on Monday. Here are a few of mine, I got bored as I was finished early and made like 7 but I will spare you all of them…lol.

I made two different creative barcodes and I thought the covers came out okay but I was having a hard time getting myself to put things on top my pretty picture I made…lol. Since it was Bing Crosby I tried to go with a more vintage look. We had to take the same selling points and make three different layouts. So mine was A Vintage Music Magazine Special Edition: The Top Five Crooners, Ella Fitzgerald talks about crooners and their music and Lyrics inside from Bing Crosby. 🙂 It was Vol. 1 Issue 1  LOL.

The sad part of my week came on Friday when I had to put down my oldest dog Squirt. I have had her for 16 years and we got her a few months after my mother died so she was extra special. She was just having to many problems and I knew it was coming then the day before we put her down she just couldn’t get her back legs to move and would drag herself around so we knew it was time. So it’s been a bit of a sad weekend but it’s getting better as time goes cause I know she is not hurting.

There is my squirty styling with a book…lol.

The countdown to my trip is making me a bit nervous as I really hate long flights cause I am a big girl in a tiny space. 🙁 10 days and counting! I am going to try and do some post featuring the Philippines while there so you all can see some of my pics. 🙂

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Lies She Told – Got suckered in by an email…lol. I was curious cause it sounds like it’s told from the POV’s of the female and from her books female character and so I wondered how that would work…lol.

Audiobook (from author)

  • laced in lies – LOVE LOVE LOVE this series so I was so excited to see Colleen’s email that the audio was ready for review!

Bought (kindle)

  • Dead End Fix – One of my fav. series and I can’t believe I missed this one when it was out for review and it went on sale so I grabbed it. 🙂 Got to see how things are going as the last one left me with a cliffie.

  • Devil in the Countryside – Was curious cause it says it’s based on the famous werewolf case in Germany and I have read a bit about it.
  • The Insider – A thriller about insider trading.
  • Nightwalk – Horror, and when it says quiet neighborhood in the blurb I know something is going to wake it up…lol.

  1. So sorry about your dog. So sad. Must have made it a hard week. On other notes, I like the magazine covers. Very creative.

  2. Great job on those covers. That looks kind of hard. I’m so sorry about Squirt, Stormi, I just had to do the same thing with my cat, Sheba. She was almost 24 yrs. old. I adopted her when my sister passed away and she was extra special because of that too.
I enjoyed Nightwalk and just finished Devil In The Countryside. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I’m curious what you think of them. I’ll be reviewing Skitter this week.
    Have a lovely Sunday:)

  3. So sorry about Squirt! It’s always sad when a beloved companion is no longer with us.

I also got Lies She Told…and I’m looking forward to it, since I recently read the author’s previous book, The Widower’s Wife.

Have a great week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. So sorry to hear about your dog! That’s the worst… and she was obviously extra special!

You know those covers look great! I mean seriously they look like real magazines. I remember you posting when you were just starting that class and were a bit nervous, if I remember right, but looks like you’ve done great. And I hope your PS class is awesome!

    Lies She Told looks fun.

  5. Once again I am sorry about Squirt. Losing a loved one is always hard. I love your covers and think even though all three look great, the red one is my favorite. I imagine it would be hard covering up all that hard work. Your trip will be here in no time and I’m sure you’ll have fun. I grabbed Devil in the Countryside as well.

  6. Sorry about your dog! I dread the day I have to let go of my fur baby. It will be soul crushing.
Your classes sound interesting. I have always wanted to learn illustrator and photoshop.
Hope you have a good week!

  7. So sorry to hear about your dog, Stormi. That’s so hard. I have a cat who is about 16 years old and she’s starting to fail. I just don’t want to see that happening.

Nice magazine covers! Sounds like your graphic design class was good. And great you will be taking another class in Photoshop. Both Illustrator and Photoshop are very useful. And I hope your trip will be wonderful. I hope we get to see some photos.

Have a great week. I’m sure it will be busy if you’re leaving in 10 days1

  8. I’m so sorry about Squirt. It is so hard to make that decision, but you did the right thing. It is good that she is no longer suffering. I love your covers. I think they look amazing. I like the vintage look. I hope you have a great week.

  9. Great job with the covers. You always have so many great books that I want to read. I have become worse than ever about flying. Still the best way to get somewhere…but I really do hate it. I am a small person and the seats still suck!!!!

  10. So sorry for your loss of Squirt. That decision is so hard but it sounds like you definitely made the right one. I did it a few months ago so I can relate. Philippines huh? That ought to be fun and really different from the US. Hope it’s fun. Also, enjoy all those books you acquired 🙂
