The Week In Review #140

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I can’t believe it’s May and still pretty cold here! The last couple of days have been pretty nice but the nights are cold. My plants are surviving just barely, some that I thought might not make it look like they are getting some new leaves, so fingers crossed. πŸ™‚ My Pablano pepper plant has two baby peppers and my cauliflower has little baby cauliflowers! πŸ™‚

Trying to read and blog a lot in the next couple of weeks because on May 23rd I leave for the Philippines for three weeks and I want to blog ahead a bit. I always get nervous about flying and the flight is sooooooo long, but I am sure it will be fun. Dad and I are going to visit some people he knows and going to the beach in Cebu. I really hate leaving my dogs because the only people to take care of them are my cousin and brother and they will just do the bare minimum of feed and water. I have to put them in a big pen in my living room and I just feel bad about it. πŸ™ Have to many for paying to board them or ask anyone to actually take them in. The reason I don’t travel much right now…lol.

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Lost Boy – Though not a huge Peter Pan fan I am fond of Capt. Hook and so I am curious about this one. I hope I like it as it looks a bit strange.
  • Booked 4 Murder – First in a new cozy series and I couldn’t help itΒ as it has books on the front. πŸ™‚

Audiobooks for review

  • Wold Unleashed – Book 5 is the SWAT series, I really like this paranormal romance series! (It’s actually one series that I have kept up to date on..amazing!)

Audiobook (purchased)

  • A Study in Scarlet Women – I had this one for review but never got to it so when I seen it on the daily deals I couldn’t help but grab it. πŸ™‚
  • Flying Too High – Book two in the Phryne Fisher mysteries and I enjoyed book one. So I grabbed it for a credit. I love the TV show but the books are a bit different but still fun.

Free at the time of purchased. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

Β Β Β Β

  • Thorn Jack – A very strange and very detailed but interesting book. Took longer to read that I hoped.
  • Lemons – A very cute, sweet and a tad bit sad at times coming of age story. It has a lot of today’s issues in it from bullying to loss to PTSD. Oh and a Bigfoot!! πŸ™‚
  • Deadly Scandal – Good historical mystery! I am really liking historical mysteries. πŸ™‚
  • When the Grits Hits the Fan – Book three of one of my new favorite series. πŸ™‚
  • Mayhem in Christmas River – Book two in a fun series that is short but still has a great mystery.

Great reading week as I am trying to cram as much in as I can get blog ahead for when I am gone for three weeks. πŸ™‚

  1. I have no pets right now, but it’s so hard to travel when you do. I used to hate pestering people to look after them, and always felt guilty about the amount of inside time my cat used to have when I was away. But a trip to The Philipines sounds amazing, I’m sure you will love it.

  2. Booked 4 Murder looks like my kind of cozy! I’m curious about A Study in Scarlet Woman too. I heard an interview with Sherry Thomas and she was hilarious. I’ve been really wanting to read it ever since. Enjoy your trip! I can understand your worry about the dogs. That definitely adds a stressful element. Have a great week!

  3. I am going to miss you!!! πŸ™ you better message me if you can while you are there! Even if it’s a weird time here. I’ll message back when I can. I hope you have some fun.
Don’t worry too much, as long as they have food and water they will be fine it’s only for a couple weeks.

You need to start stocking up all the books now. That flight is a great time to read all the books! πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! ox

  4. Oh wow! What a vacation! That’ll be exciting. I hear ya on the pups, though. My mom hires one of the techs at her vet to come to the house twice a day and look in on hers. That’s worked out well and not as bad as boarding everyone there. Good luck with your blog prep!

    And aw baby cauliflower!!

  5. All I can say is you better have some pretty good gifts for the dogs when you return – mine would never make up with me but then they are spoiled rotten. Can’t wait to buddy read Lost Boy and hope we both love Booked 4 Murder – especially since I contributed to you grabbing it. I hope you love Study in Scarlet Women as much as I did.

  6. I feel for you having to leave your dogs behind. πŸ™ I hope you have a great trip though! You reminded me I need to check and see how my daughter’s plants are doing outside. I hope they are doing well.

Have a great week, Stormi! Thanks for visiting my blog.

  7. Our weather has been pretty good, but not too warm most days and the nights can still get cold too. I hope your plants will survive!

I’ve never flied before as it scares me, so I can see why you get nervous about that. But it does sound like a nice trip to look forward to.

I am so tempted to request Booked for Murder, but I still have a bunch of books from netgalley to get through and I am trying to focus on those first.

I have read When the Grits Hit the Fan, it’s such a good series. The mystery in that was really good! Have a great week!

  8. We’re still getting 30’s at night here- the last few days have been sunny but only in the 50’s. Ergh lol.

The Philippines? Wow that sounds like an awesome trip. Flying isn’t my favorite thing either but I think a trip there would be worth it. I’m sure it will be beautiful there. Hope you get some pics to share. πŸ™‚ I imagine it is hard top leave the dogs though…

  9. We ha d a couple of windy cool days but it’s back to warm and sunny now. The Philippines! How awesome. I’ll miss ya. And I wish I lived close enough to take care of your dogs and give them some TLC!
