The Week In Review #366

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

It was hot again this week so I didn’t do to much. I am pretty sure my garden is about done for the year. It wasn’t a very good one, but I have plans for next year! I think our soil needs nutrients and we got a plow for the tractor and so hoping that in the early spring we can plow it up and put some fertilizer, etc down and sort of till it into the ground so it’s ready for planting season. ๐Ÿ™‚

Still watching Downton Abby and I so remember why I hate Thomas and O’Brien with each episode they are in! ๐Ÿ™‚ There is a new show coming on Hulu that I am curious to try out. It’s called Only Murders in the Building staring Steve Martin and Martin Short! ๐Ÿ™‚ Looks fun! It comes out Aug. 31st I believe so it’s on my watch list!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Up To No Gouda – First in a new series about a Grill Cheese Eatery.
  • Bear Witness – First in a new cozy series set in Alaska.

These both come out in 2022 and now I need to try not to grab to many books for next year before I become overrun with them!!

From publicist/publisher:

Books read last week

It looks like I read a lot but most of these were over half done before the beginning of the week. ๐Ÿ™‚ Or super short reads!

  • Dune – I finally finished!!! It was okay though I still don’t feel like I could actually explain what I read even if I understand it. It’s just doesn’t gather in my brain right to put into words…lol. I do think it reads pretty easy for a sci-fi, I was afraid it would be super techie but it wasn’t.
  • The Strange Case of the Alchemist Daughter – This was a lot of fun. With characters from famous books.
  • The Hollow Place – Kara finds a portal to another dimension and it’s not good…lol. I liked this one a little bit more than The Twisted Ones by this author.
  • Penpal – I wasn’t a fan of this one, so boring. Didn’t really feel like horror at all.
  • How Not To Get Murdered in a Quaint English Villiage – A super quick, super fun humorous non-fiction book making lite of all those British detective movies and tv shows set in those quaint English village and how people are always being murdered. So the author is telling you what you shouldn’t do so you don’t get killed, like don’t look out the window, best beware the church, or maybe the vicar, etc…lol.
  • Cranky Chicken – Kids book about a Cranky Chicken and a Happy Worm and how they learn to be friends. It was kind of like a chapterbook/graphic novel so super quick, read it in like only a few minutes. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Murder in an Irish Village – Siobhรกn Oโ€™Sullivan has come back from Dublin to take over her family’s restuarantย  and watch over her siblings after their parents where killed in a car accident. When a man dies she must solve the murder to get her brother of the suspect list.

Currently reading

  • The Wheel of Fortune – It’s back on the read list as I got the copy back from the library quicker than I thought I would…lol. Still way behind with this buddy read and it will be continuing in September!
  • Cajun Kiss of Death – 56% Into this one and really enjoying it but don’t want it to end so I keep putting it off. I think this could be the last in the series and that makes me sad.
  • The Dover Demon – My first pick for the TBR Jar of Horror and the month is geting away from me and I need to get it read. Just started it.
  • Matchmaking Can Be Murder – First book in an Amish Matchmaking mystery series and I am really enjoying it. It’s a spin off series from the Amish Candy Shop series which I really like. It has a different MC but still has a lot of the same characters from ACS as well as new ones. The MC’s friend is and Englisher and calls Millie an Amish Marple!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ 3 hours left of this one!

  1. Good luck with the garden next year! I’m hoping to do some too, grow a few things, since this year I didn’t do jack with it lol.

The Hollow Place sounds really cool.

I thought Dune would be horribly boring but it wasn’t that bad but I also listened to the audio that had a full cast narration. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. It’s been a terrible summer here for gardens. I didn’t even really attempt but everyone I know who did struggled. I need How Not to Get Murdered in an English Village! It sounds fantastic. Have a great week!
