The Week In Review #132

March 26, 2017 Misc. 24

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So my T-shirt design is going okay but we just started it on Wednesday and it’s due two Mondays from now so I only have two actual class days to finish it. I knew things were going to speed up now…darn it. I really need to get illustrator for my home so I can spend extra time on it. I figure if designing is what I am going to do I really should get all that good stuff now anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

Planted potatoes this week, so I hope they do well. It’s only my second time ever doing potatoes. Last year did okay but I didn’t do many this time I planted a lot more. My tomato plants are not doing very well and I am wondering if it’s the compost I put them in so in the middle of doing a replanting in hopes that they thrive or I will be going to the nursery and buying plants. ๐Ÿ™

Update: After looking at my plants this morning I think I will be buying some. It’s too late to plant more seeds. Some of my younger ones might do okay but my bigger plants are pretty shriveled up. ๐Ÿ™ ย Oh well, live and learn right, do not use the compost when seeding (I think it’s cause it says wetter inside but the top would look dry so I would water it more and I think they got some kind of fungal disease.)

This weather! It was so nice then we had some storms come in and then Saturday it was just so cold! I want my warm weather to stick around.

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Those emails, Darn those emails!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Netgalley

ย ย
  • No Charm Intended – Second book in the Cora Craft Mystery series.
  • The Girl From Yesterday – It’s a psychological thriller and it sounded pretty cool. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Lone Ranger/Green Hornet – I must admit that I was curious about how they connected the Lone Ranger to Green Hornet…lol.

Audiobooks for review (Tantor Audio, thanks!)

ย ย ย
  • Grace Takes Off – Listened to the first 3 and really liked it and sort of thought maybe no more was coming out on audio and then I saw it and I was like, YESS! ๐Ÿ™‚
  • A View to Die For– I think I have become a sucker for a mystery with a dog in it.
  • Deadly Scandal – I have been wanting to try this series!
  • A Wee Dose of Death – I really liked book one so I can’t wait!

Audiobook (bought)

Daily Deal had it on sale for .99 and I was curious. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • The Jungle Book: The Mowgli Stories – This might be interesting as it has multiple narrators which has me curious. ๐Ÿ™‚

Books bought (kindle)

ย
  • This Savage Song– been wanting to read this and it went on sale for 1.99 so couldn’t pass that up.
  • The ย Familiar – So a cover buy and only .99 at time of purchase. ๐Ÿ™‚

Books read last week

ย ย
  • Mystery at Maplemead Castle -Not your typical cozy mystery and the mysteries they solve are to help the dead move on. It’s British and full of language not normally in cozies so you have been warned. Oh and lot of sexual tensionย runs amuck….lol.
  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – Short listen and the audio is so worth getting because of the fun effects of the monsters in the background and well Eddie Redmayne narrates. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Snowmen in Paradise – This was a good second book in the TJ Jensen mystery series! Short and full of suspects!

Currently reading

ย ย ย
  • The Jekyll Revelation – ย Only at 17% and it’s kind of boring but I do hope it picks up as it’s for a buddy read this week.
  • The Crow Trap – Haven’t been able to read much on this one this week.
  • Sherlock Holmes – I have made it to 6:32 out of 62 hours. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Grace Takes Off – Trying to keep up with my newer audios and this one comes out at the end of the month. I have about 5 hours left in it. I like this series.

What might be up next

What I’m Watching

I have been watching a lot of Vera off of Acorn TV and I am enjoying it. Lethal ย Weapon had it’s season finale last week and boy I kind of missed it come Wednesday. ๐Ÿ™ I hate when season finale time comes. I need to catch up on things I have DVRed like Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Rosewood, so might do that this week. Today is the new Murder She Baked mystery on Hallmark! I will be watching this series all day in anticipation of the next installment. ๐Ÿ™‚

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

That’s a bummer about the plants. I’ve never had much of a green thumb myself. And I’m still in awe of your graphic design skills! I legit know nothing about that stuff either! Lol! Hope all goes well with your latest project!

Nice new reads! Mostly all new to me ones but I did really enjoy This Savage Song! Hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Yeah, I am kind of bummed about them too. My plants did well last year but tried something different and now I know not to do that again. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Stormi

Yeah, your suppose to plant potatoes on St. Patricks day but I didn’t have mine yet and now of course, it’s raining and raining and I hope it doesn’t rot my potatoes cause they don’t need a lot of water and to much will make them rot. ๐Ÿ™

I now know not to do what I did with my maters this year, cause last year they did fine but planted them in something different.

    • Stormi

Last year they did so well, but I think it was the compost, it stayed too moist but the top got dry so I thought it needed water. Next time just regular old potting soil. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I’ve lost plants like that too – like you said live and learn. I’ve got to clean out the beds this week and hopefully buy plants next week. My garden was awful last year so I’m hoping this year will be better. Those emails are the death of my good intentions but I love them so! Good luck with the t-shirt design! Even with the faster pace I’m sure you’ll do great! Have a fantastic week!

I want to do more planting but it’s been raining and rain most of this week…errr. It also makes me think all the rain is going to rot my taters. ๐Ÿ™ I finally plant them close to on time and then rain, rain, rain. Taters don’t need a lot of rain especially when getting started.

I am not extremely happy with my t-shirt but I am still learning and some things just take more time to perfect. He is rushing us along now cause he has three other projects he wants to try and do before May 17th. :):( Makes for lots of rushing.

I’m going to have to look into A View to Die For, but you probably knew that huh? It’s great that you’re working so hard on your garden. Mr. Barb tilled the backyard and planted grass and clover yesterday. We have the hardest time keeping grass during the summer. I’m sure you’ll do great on your t-shirt project. Can’t wait to see it.

Yeah, I knew you would want A View to Die For…lol. We never have great grass, we have mostly weeds and bumpy terrain because of those stupid moles. Not fun to mow…lol.

    • Stormi

Yes, and he did a great job and I was the same way about Sherlock and Stephen Fry…lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Ronyell (a.k.a Rabbitearsblog)

Oooh! I really need to go back and plant food again like I used to do. I used to plant strawberries when I was younger, but the birds always ate the strawberries! Hopefully, we’ll try to get our garden straightened out to plant more vegetables and fruit!

We canned a lot of food we have used during the winter so it sure saves on money. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Charlie

I think your Tshirt project will come out alright! That doesn’t seem a lot of time, but I guess that’s college, right? I planted some bulbs last week but I think they’re time has already passed. Good luck with your plants!

  6. kimbacaffeinate

I have the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them โ€“ but am pretty determined to get the audio..it sounds so good. I do better with plants than with seeds. Good luck. It is a shame the school doesn’t provide the software you need at student pricing. My daughter got software for 20.00 as a student.

Yeah I’m ready for warm weather too! Warm weather that stays, doesn’t just show up and then drop 20 degrees the next day lol! Sorry to hear about the tomatoes. ๐Ÿ™ Hopefully they do better next time.

No Charm Intended looks fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry about you tomato plants, Stormi. At least you tried growing them from seed. I always think I’m going to start plants from seed and never get around to it.

Good luck with your tee shirt. I know how hard it is when you only have the software you’re using in class.

And you’ve been getting and reading some great looking books. I have to go and check out some. Hope you enjoy your new ones!

Bad luck with the tomato plants – they are prone to rotting off. It happens less if you use seed compost as it is better drained. Do you have time to reseed? I know we do here as we can’t plant out tender plants until mid-May when all risk of ground frost is over.
