The Week In Review #126

January 29, 2017 Memes 17

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So some of you have expressed interest in how my Graphic Design course is going so each week I will post a pic here of what I have done or I am currently working on. 🙂 Here is my first masterpiece…lol. He had us try and draw some trees in some squares and walked us through how to do it and use the paint brush mode…yeah very interesting….lol. So you can’t see it but my leave are green, yellow and orange, as I was going for a fall color feel…lol. It’s horrible but not as bad as some of the others I seen…so I don’t feel bad…lol.

Last half of Wednesday he was teaching us to use the pen tool to draw icons. Yeah, the pen tool is the devil!!! If I can make something decent enough to snap a picture I will but he had us trying to make fluffy clouds and funky looking birds (from Pinterest pics, he loves pinterest…lol) and well mine didn’t look nothing like what they were supposed too, I couldn’t figure it out and I was getting very frustrated!! 🙁 I am determined and he is nice about it so that is good.

Monday we start our first actual project of making animal logos from shapes, etc…little nervous…lol. I will be going in early and staying after class to practice this week. 🙂

Other than that not much going on here. The weather hasn’t been real cold but it’s letting us know that it’s still winter as the nights are in the 20’s again…blah.

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

Oops I did it again and #sonotsorry as I just can’t help myself even though I really am trying…lol.

  • Monster Heroes – Graphic novel about monster heroes, it was calling my name….lol.
  • For Whom the Bread Rolls – What can I say, I have a cozy click it request addiction…lol.

Overall, I really did do good because I know it could have been worse…lol.

Bought (Kindle)

  • Scene of the Grind – Love me some Tonya Kappes and this is first in a new series that just came out. $2.99
  • Killing Trail – Had my eye on this series for a while and book one went on sale. $1.99

Freebies

Books read last week

  • The River at Night – First half was a bit dullsville and the second have was a wild ride of weirdness. It was okay but not great.
  • Murder, Madness and Love – A bit long, but a lot of twist. Overall it wasn’t bad.
  • Pirate – Good start to a series about a space pirate. Not huge on sci-fi types but it’s Eva Langlais so I had too, it’s my first alien type romance. 🙂
  • The Last of August – So disappointed in this one, I feel a rant coming on! 🙁

Put on hold

Trying to decide if I am going to finish it or DNF it.

Currently reading

  • Beheld– is a bit draggy though I think it’s more me than anything, for some reason nothing is really catching me right now. 🙁
  • Father of Lies – I just started so no opinion.

What might be up next

How was your week? What did you get?

I think you are having a rough reading start like me. I just can’t seem to find anything that is grabbing me since reading the King Series at the beginning of the year. I only read 3 books so far….THREE!!! I need an entire day to read but I think the COYER restrictions are really starting to show. I have plans for summer and everyone will love me! lol

You will do fine in your class, have faith and patience. You can do it!

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! Miss You!

I really like your trees and I bet you will learn some really helpful stuff in that class. Sounds like our temps have been a lot alike this week. We’ve had flurries on and off all morning and I’m hoping that’s all they are because I have to travel for work tomorrow. I hope Beheld picks up for you because I plan on grabbing it from the library when I see it. I love the title of the Bread cozy mystery.

The trees look awesome! Don’t stress to much about not getting the pen tool immediately. I have no doubt you’ll get it. It’s so impressive that you’re really tackling this new skill! I love that your professor loves Pinterest! It really is the best. It was a slow week for me bookwise as well though I really want For Whom the Bread Rolls and the Tonya Kappes. Have a great week!

I didn’t really care for Her Survivor by Vonnie Davis either! Glad it wasn’t just me. Your trees look a million times better than mine would have. I am totally inept when it comes to design stuff. Actually, it if involves creativity at all, its pretty much a no go for me! Hahaha! Good luck with the course 🙂

It sounds like an interesting class and you’re gonna get better as you go along. I think it’d be fun to learn although I don’t think I’d be a natural at it lol. Monster Heroes and For Whom The Bread Rolls sound fun. But An Affair to Dismember- that might be the best title I’ve seen this week!

I like your picture and the class sounds like fun! I’ve also been clicking a lot of cozy mysteries on Netgalley, they are really fun to read. I also have For Whom the Bread Rolls. I liked the first book so hopefully we’ll both enjoy this one. I hope you have a good week!

Wow Stormi, that pic is great! Are you enjoying it? Not feeling too much ‘older’ than everyone? I hope you turns out well for you!

And you had a good reading week last week as well! You have been busy!

You have yet another impressive book haul there:). I do like the sound of that space opera pirate adventure. I thought your design was very cool and rather beautiful – best of luck with your animal project. It sounds fun, but also rather daunting… Have a great week.
