BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

What you might have missed on my blog

So had my first graphic design class and I am the oldest one in the class even older than the teacher. ๐Ÿ™ LOL Oh well. My only fear is it seems most of these teens have had graphic design in High School and I will be way behind. The lady beside me took illustrator in HS…so bright side, maybe she can help me…lol. They were playing around making all sorts of cool things and I made squiggly lines and a lima bean looking cartoon face….lol.:) Our first project is an animal logo, we have to make out of shapes, and other things we learn…hmmm should be interesting.

Other than that not much happened this week. I didn’t have a great reading week as I seem to have found some duds. ๐Ÿ™

The weather this week hasn’t been too bad it dipped into the 30’s and then back up to the 60’s. I like this kind of winter but I am waiting for the boom to happen…lol.

Books I have added

Netgalley

Audiobook from publisher

I was so excited when MacMillian audio sent me an email about this audio and even more excited that they let me review it!!!! So much so that I quit listening to the one I really wasn’t much interested in and started this one…lol. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you MacMillian!!!

Audio bought (credit)

From the Publisher

ย
  • The Unseeing -Sourcebook sent to me for a blog tour, it’s a historical mystery about a young woman who’s has been sentenced to hang but is she guilty? Or hiding something?
  • At Close Range – Another book in the Tracer series sent to me by Simon and Schuster, I really need to try this series. I have been told they are stand alones but it drives me crazy reading out of order! But might try it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Sourcebook and Simon and Schuster!!

Books bought

ย
  • A Charming Cure – Book two in this series, now I have book one and two…when I get more I will start this one. .99 ๐Ÿ™‚
  • The Night Bird – Detective novel that was in the Kindle First selection so I got it for 1.99 and it sounds good, so fingers crossed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Freebies

ย ย ย

Love it when things on my amazon wishlist go free! ๐Ÿ™‚

Books read last week

See I knew last week was an anomaly cause I never read/listen to that many books in one week….lol.

ย ย
  • Some Danger Involved – It was a decent start to a series and a crime fighting duo. No Holmes and Watson but still an interesting historical mystery.
  • The Rising – Okay so I couldn’t help but just start this one right away and I really liked it. It’s the kind of Sci-fi I can handle, very light…lol.
  • Moon Called – This was a fun, light easy kind of listen and I really enjoyed it. ๐Ÿ™‚

DNFed

Gave up at about 49%, I really wanted to like it but it just bored me and I didn’t care for the characters all that much.

Currently reading

ย ย
  • The River at Night – Okay so far, not really gotten to the river yet to see how that goes.
  • The Darkest Secret -I put it on hold to listen to The Rising and to be honest not sure if I will finish it. It is in two MP3 CD’s and I finished one, and really don’t care for any of the characters, a part of me wants to know what happened to Coco but on the other hand I really don’t care…lol. Anyone read or listened to it? Should I keep going?
  • Murder, Madness & Love – I just started it as I contemplate whether I want to finish Darkest Secret. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m sure you will catch up in your InDesign class. Sorry that Little Heaven didn’t work out for you. I requested that one from the library on audio. I’m really glad you enjoyed Moon Called. It is a fun series. I think you’ll like Pirate. It is different from Eve’s other books, but still has her humor. I hope you have a great week.

I hope you enjoy your graphic design class. I took some html and javascript classes a few years ago and kind of felt like you at first. The younger people in the class seemed to take it in by osmosis…lol, but they were always very helpful.

Sorry you’re finding duds to read. Frustrating when that happens. I hope next week will be a great reading week, Stormi!

  3. Jessica @ a GREAT read

New subjects can always be tricky for us. I honestly never had the knack for all the detailed computer programs. Plus they weren’t really around as much when I was growing up. So kudos to you for taking a course to learn more!

Nice new reads too! Some totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!

    Have a GREAT day!

Glad you started your graphic arts class! Don’t worry about being the oldest one. I remember having “non-traditional” students in class and I never really thought much of it. Really college kids are far too self-involved to worry about anyone else! I read the Tracers book before this one and really enjoyed it. I haven’t read any of the series before but it sounds like a series kind of like Heather Graham’s Krewe series with different characters and different plots and all that. Have a great week!

I have really enjoyed the Tracers series by Laura Griffin. I totally started out of order (which I usually don’t like) and it is one of those times when I can honestly say, it doesn’t matter. You get some character overlap, but its minimal. Hope you will give it a shot!
Have a great week and good luck with your design class!

It’a always annoying to have to break off because a book isn’t doing it for you – I really dislike doing it. But equally, I refuse to trudge through something I’m not enjoying as there are too many marvellous books out there and not enough time to get through them all… Have a great week, Stormi.

Don’t be intimidated by their youth – what they have in youth and exposure to programs you can make up for in life experience. Kids in college struggle all the time because they’re adulting for the first time. I’m sure you’ll catch up. Plus, it’s about what you learn, right? Good luck!!

I’m with you on the weather – I’m enjoying the warmer winter, but I’m nervous!!! Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs!

I hear you on the boom- we got warm this week and I know winter will come screaming back with a vengeance lol. Good luck with the class! Sounds fun although I’m graphically challenged so I’d probably flunk out.

The Rising looks good and I have a Gregg Hurwitz book on my TBR. The Night Bird looks good too.

I’m kinda looking forward to Moon Called.

Your graphic design class sounds like fun and I’m sure you’ll do fine. You have a lot of good reads this week. I’ve been going on Netgalley too trying to find some new releases for this year. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books.

Don’t get discouraged in your class! Put in your best effort in learning, and perhaps you can also learn from your classmates. The weather here has turned colder again, and the wind last night and today has been atrocious!

  11. Deborah

I hope you enjoy Orphan X.

And I do hope you enjoy your class…. just think how much more advanced you’ll be than others your age… and you’re adding more and more skills to your repertoire!
