The Week In Review #112

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So this week was a little slow at work and I got sent home early every day, the upside to that was I got a little more time for reading. This month is research paper month and my teach is very particular about what we can and can’t research and how the paper has to be written. It’s only a 3 to 4 page paper but has to be argumentative/persuasive and I have to decide what side I want to be on. There is nothing I want to research that qualifies for that so I am stuck with doing something boring. πŸ™ She says we can pick something like international affairs so I am looking at headlines seeing if something looks interesting…which it doesn’t so basically I will pick something and just do it and get it over with…so this month will be boring school work…lol.

Middle of next week starts the Ho Ho Ho read-a-thon at @Caffienated Book ReviewerΒ and I hope to be able to read at least one book but I totally over books the cozy mystery blog tours this month and got a lot of them to read. πŸ™‚

Been kind of busy with my November post and other things so I don’t have time for a October wrap up post. So I am going to let you all know that I read 19 books, which is more than I thought I would accomplish. Lot of them were audio. πŸ™‚ So I am at 168 out of my goal of 185. Secretly hoping to pass that and make it to 200! πŸ™‚

Favorite reads: I just realized I read and caught up on the Spies and Spells series by Tonya Kappes in October! (There are only three books out right now). Also I enjoyed Little Boy Blue by M. J. Arlidge.

You will notice that I am doing a November Thanks event on my blog and I am really enjoying it. I need Β better organization as I got a late start so next year I am going to have a note books for writing down when I meet a new blogger that I want to Β follow, or try a new author or narrator I like, etc. Cause it’s hard to think on the fly…lol. πŸ™‚ Almost all my blogging friends I have met through COYER, but not all. Hope you enjoy this feature this month! πŸ™‚

Winter COYER sign-ups are coming up so be on the look out!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

rosebloodΒ dead-and-breakfastΒ feast-of-all-soulsΒ green-dress-ghostΒ bell-books-and-candlemas

  • Roseblood – So I wasn’t a huge fan of her other series but mostly cause I am not a Wonderland fan, but I am a Phantom of the Opera fan so I had to try this one!!
  • Dead and Breakfast – I can’t pass up a cozy with ghost!
  • Feast of All Souls – This was totally a #barbmademedoit request…lol. I seen this on her blog and of course I had to request it! πŸ™‚
I was doing so good, thought three books were all I would get and then #barbmademedoit (Booker T’s Farm) strikes again!!! πŸ˜‰ (She is so ornery that she knew I would do it too…lol) I checked out her stack yesterday and bam there was two books I just had to have! Β Next year I must figure out a new system so I don’t grab as many…make a wishlist in a notebook so I can start doing library runs now and then. πŸ™‚
  • The Case of the Green-Dressed Ghost – How could I pass up a mystery with ghost! πŸ™‚
  • Bell, Books, and Candlemas – Is book two in a series that I still need to read book one so I best get busy! πŸ™‚

They all so so purdy…lol. πŸ™‚

Audiobooks for review

  • Lock and Judgement – Book in a series (DC Smith Investigations) I am just about to start when I start Accidental Death as you can see below is on my list of ones to start soon. πŸ™‚
  • Father of Lies – Book one in a Darkly Disturbing Occult horror trilogy or at least that is what the cover says. πŸ™‚
  • Deadlocked – Book Three in the Harry Russo Diaries. I just finished book one and I am liking this series so far. πŸ™‚

Books bought

nowhere-to-runΒ hunting-in-brugesΒ club-nexusΒ lady-who-sawe-too-much

crime-on-the-fensΒ black-lyon

These were all books on my amazon wishlist that went on sale or I got cause they were .99 and had a little book spending money. All books were at least 1.99 or less at theΒ time of purchase. πŸ™‚

murder-is-elementaryΒ bunny-and-bearΒ remorselessΒ collectors-society

So excited to catch The Collectors’ Society on a freebie sale!!! πŸ™‚ It’s been on my wishlist for a while. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

get-witch-or-die-tryingΒ real-murderΒ dead-and-kickingΒ on-what-ground

  • Get Witch or Die Trying – Book 3 in the Spells and Spies series. It was a short read and so much fun! Love this series!! If you want a light-hearted fun paranormal cozy then you need to read this series!
  • Real Murders – Aurora Teagarden book 1 and so totally different than the Hallmark movie, but I still enjoyed it. I have book two on my wishlist.
  • Dead and Kicking – New to me author and series. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but I really enjoyed this one. Harry is able to see ghost, has more powers than she new she had and has a werewolf trying to protect her whether she wants it or not while a vampire tries to take advantage of what she is. Then sort of gets betrayed and almost sacrifices…what isn’t there not to like….lol.
  • On What Ground- A cozy series I have wanted to try for a while and got this on the buy one get one credit thing audibles had going on. It was my listen to and from work and while at school during my time in between class.

Currently reading

  1. Sorry you have trouble finding an interesting topic for your paper, Stormi. I hope you’ll be able to find something that will be more interesting than you anticipate!
You’ve read a lot of books this week πŸ™‚ Well done!
    Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading. {{{BIG HUGS}}}

  2. Wow – I’m always amazed by the number of books others are able to read in a year’s time. That’s awesome! New Sunday Post visitor. Enjoy your week and your new books! And good luck on your research paper!

  3. My daughter moans every day about her college work. lol I hope November, month of boring work, goes quickly for you. πŸ™‚ At least you’ve had mor etime to read. I need me some of that.

I hope you continue to love Charley. I LOVE that series so much! πŸ˜€

  4. Worst papers to write are the boring ones. Just try and get through it. If you need to brainstorm send me a message I am always around.
Look at all those books! Someone was a bad girl this week. SURE blame barb! πŸ™‚

I need to catch up again on my posts. Just having some issues at home but we are working on it. Just never know what will happen.

    You did great last month!
I hope you have a fantastic week! Miss you! Happy Reading! oxoxox

  5. I am impressed with the variety of genres you read. I see a couple of cozy mysteries, which is my go to when I want something light and fun. I look forward to seeing what you think of Second Grave on the Right. I have that one to read too. I read the first in the series and loved it.
Sorry about you being sent home early from work, but it is good to have some extra reading time, no doubt. Have a good Sunday.

  6. Now that’s quite an impressive book haul, Stormi! You are so bad for my book budget! LOL Too bad your paper couldn’t have been about the run for president. There would be so much to talk about. LOL Good luck on the paper and have a lovely Sunday:)

  7. I do not miss research papers! Thankfully with my major I didn’t have to write that many. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you exceeding your goal. I have dreams of a 200 book year but I don’t see it in my future for awhile. One day though! I’m hoping you’re enjoying Deep End. That’s the only one in the series I haven’t read but I love the others. Have a great week!

  8. Good luck with the research paper, I always hated writing stuff like that. Why can’t let let us write something we enjoy? It would be so much better. πŸ™‚

So you guys have me curious on COYER blackout ha ha.

Your new reads looks good! I liked The Deep End and The collectors Society looks interesting.

  9. So can you pick another topic? If you can, look at the criminal justice system. Hubby is getting his degree and is currently in a debate class so I can give some suggestions. I am starting Deadly Dog Days today and then Moon Chosen. I had to slip an arc sent me in last night – it was just a novella. Great haul and glad I could help with it πŸ˜‰

  10. I don’t miss writing papers but can you write about the changes to BEA? That would be interesting to read and you have your own experience at BEA to use. Whatever you write I hope it goes well. I’m catching up on the Charley Davidson series – she’s a crazy character lol. I hope you have a great week!

  11. Sounds like you’re doing great with your reading. The COYER Blackout has my interest.

All those cozies look so good.

Enjoy your reading and have a great week!

  12. Oh, an international affairs paper I would be all over! There’s so much going on in Asia right now you could write about. πŸ™‚ But anyway, sounds like you have a busy time ahead and you got lots of books to read!

  13. While I don’t miss research papers, the argumentative /persuasive ones were always the easiest for me because I like to argue lol. I did one on the paternalistic problems of the seat belt laws. Lol. I was pissed about a ticket my husband got so I took it out in a paper. Maybe you can find a topic like that – it doesn’t have to be important to argue about it.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying Charley – I hope you get to read more so. Are you listening? Loreli Kings narration is fantastic.

Geez, I can’t believe the number of books you’ve read! Seriously awesome! I’m aiming for 125,but I’m 5 books behind. I’ll have to borrow some of your count! Hahaha

    {hugs} have a great week!

  14. Oh, international affairs… that could be quite interesting. I can’t think of anything exciting happening here but surely there’s something happening (other than the US election of course)…. Will tag you if I think of anything.

  15. So sorry that you are finding it difficult to decide on a topic to argue about – I would advise you to try and find something that you care about, or you’re right, you’ll find it boring. Trouble is, it’s hard to write well about something you don’t care about. You’ve had a really good month reading – 19 books is impressive:). Hope you have a great week and I’m really enjoying your Giving Thanks series.
