The Week In Review #107

October 2, 2016 Misc. 24

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Not much going on but my college classes and work. Kind of a dull week but that is okay. Weather is nice in the afternoon but COLD in the morning…that I do not like, but I don’t mind the mild afternoon weather. πŸ™‚

Started Blog Ahead today, but was still catching up on some other blog post and only got one for the blog ahead done today but it’s a start! πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley/Edelweiss

dead-girls-society dying-for-christmasΒ huntedΒ miss-ellicots-school-for-the-magically-minded ghoul-scouts the-leaf-reader

Okay so I got hit with the galley grab bug but at least a few of these are for 2017. πŸ™‚

  • Dead Girl Society -I believe I seen this on Greg @ Book Haven’s blog and so requested it and got it. I love secret society books. πŸ™‚
  • Dying for Christmas – Once for Ho Ho Ho read-a-thon. πŸ™‚ You should never follow a stranger home when you have just met him. It never goes well!
  • Hunted – I have a weakness for Beauty and Beast retellings.
  • Miss Elliot’s School for the Magically Minded – Sounded like a cute MG read.
  • Ghoul Scouts – Graphic novel about some scouts who have to fight zombies. Looked like a fun MG graphic novel.
  • The Leaf Reader – Girl gets into tea leaves and murder, sounds like a good one. πŸ™‚

Audiobook bought

turn-of-the-screw
  • The Turn of the Screw – Nothing like some classic horror and it’s narrated by Emma Thompson and Richard Armitage. Just might have to fit this one in soon to see what it’s like…lol.

Bought Kindle

grave-mercy
  • Grave Mercy – figured since it was on sale for .99 it was a good time to grab it up as it’s been on my wishlist a while.

Freebies

hollow-bloodΒ joined-realmΒ hush
  • Hollow Blood – Sucker for a Sleepy Hollow read. πŸ™‚
  • The Joined Realm -Not going to lie, got this one just cause of the wolf guy on the front…lol.
  • Hush – Look at that creepy cover! πŸ™‚

Not all of these are still free so check before clicking!

Books read last week

Spies and SpellsΒ underlandΒ the-sinner
  • Spies and Spell – Witches and spies. I loved this cozy!!!!! πŸ™‚
  • Underland – Mythic gods and deadly Olympic games. It was okay but thought it could be better.
  • The Sinner – Love this paranormal mystery series!

Currently reading

The Book Club MurdersΒ betting-off-deadΒ And the trees crept inΒ Murder in the secret garden
  • The Book Club Murders – I got swept up in Spies and Spells this week and put this one on the back burner but I am at 35% so I got to ramp it up and finish for a blog tour this week.
  • Betting Off Dead -loved the first book so much I jumped right into the second one!
  • Murder in the Secret Garden – Joined the Cozy Mystery Bingo Challenge on Goodreads and this week it’s Lodging so I picked this one. It takes place in a book themed resort. πŸ™‚
  • The Trees Crept In -Cause I need to break up these cozies with some scary! πŸ™‚

I have to work in some October post along with the blog ahead post. Totally forgot to do one today because of church and hanging with my aunt and her boyfriend after…lol. Oh well, I forsee a few days during the week going that way too especially Mondays as I don’t get home until 6pm and have to work on next paper for English.

I am definitely planning to read Hunted. I love fairy tale retellings too. I am also curious about The Dead Girls Society and The Leaf Reader. I was tempted to get The Turn of the Screw because Emma Thompson is the narrator (didn’t realize Richard Armitage also read) but I tried reading the book in college and ended up getting the Cliffs Notes for it. I am not a Henry James fan but with those two narrating I’d consider giving it a try! Hope you have a great week.

Yaaassss, I may or may not have raided Harper’s books on Edelweiss! I got five of them, and that was some restraint right there. πŸ˜€ I loved Grave Mercy! My favorite book of 2013! The series in general is so good, but that one was my favorite book of the three, and my favorite for that year. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a fabulous week. πŸ™‚

It’s nice not to have it all steamy in the afternoons, I agree. I need to get Chills (seems perfect for this month) and yay for Dead Girls Society. Can’t wait to see what you think. I liked Grave Mercy a lot, hope you do too, and Murder in the Secret Garden is also on my list.

Good luck for Blog Ahead Stormi! I hope you get a lot of posts done. I wish I could do it and I know there’s nothing stopping me but my own laziness!

It’s a rainy cooler day here today which is nice as we’re now heading into summer!

So far we’ve had a fabulous autumn, but I truly dread the winter… You have a very creepy set of books there, Stormi! But Spies and Spells looks great… Have a great week:)

  8. Kathy Martin

I downloaded a bunch of ARCs this week too from Edelweiss. Most are 2017 releases. I enjoyed Last Seen Leaving and hope you do too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  9. Kathryn

A cozy mystery lover I see, I rarely read them, but next year I intend to read a few more. I am going to stay away from review books, going to set myself a limit for 2017 and see if I can read my TBR and all the recommendations I pick up. Well that’s the plan πŸ˜‰

  10. Erin @ Quixotic Magpie

So many fun sounding books! I need to definitely read Dead Girls Society and Hollow Blood – I am also a sucker for a Sleepy Hollow story! I also am a big fan of the cozy..and it is the best time of year to read one!

    Have a great week. πŸ™‚

Great book haul this week – enjoy your books.

I really liked Dying for Christmas by Tammy Cohen, I hope you enjoy it too.

    Have a lovely week πŸ™‚

I wouldn’t mind some dull weeks. I’m getting a bit tired of running right up my deadlines collective asses. lol I am enjoying the cooler October weather. It’s about damn time we had appropriate seasonal weather which I guess is Fall since our Spring was non-existent. I wonder what Winter will bring? We just never know around here.
