Witches by Kathryn Meyer Griffith

My Review

I have heard a lot about this author from reading reviews from Laura and Sherry’s blogs and so I am excited to be a part of this tag team today.

Witches is about Amanda who is a white witch and she is still healing after the death of her husband. He knew what she was but she keeps it secret from everyone. She accidently showed some power and now everyone thinks bad things about her especially now that there is an occult out there killing everyone.

There is a black witch Rachel who use to live around the area in the 1700’s who was killed for being a witch and she wants Amanda’s body. She gets Amanda when she is in a weakened state and transforms her back to the 1700’s. So now Amanda is Rachel, but can she change the past and make everyone believe that Rachel is not the bad witch they think she is? Will her sisters be able to get her back to present day?

Witches was really interesting as I really didn’t know how it was going to play out. I know this author rights horror, and some suspense, but this one was hard to put into a genre. It was a bit of paranormal, time-travel and romance.

I really liked Amanda and felt bad for her being in Rachels body, but loved how she tried turning things around. Rachel was such an evil woman, the way she treated her own children, it was horrid. Rachel deserved to die, but Amanda is a good witch and so you really root for things to go well for her.

Overall, I really enjoy this one, it’s my first book by this author but I will be reading/listening to more as I liked it.

4 stars

Thank you Stormi (and all the other blogsters!) for liking and reviewing my WITCHES! It’s made my day really happy…I love for people to discover my witch book.
Also…soon I plan to finish Witches II (I actually started it 8 years ago, and have about 1/3 done, but put it aside because I wasn’t about to ever give it to a greedy publisher…now I self-publish so that no longer applies!). It will follow Amanda and her two sisters for further adventures with The Guardians.
Yes, Witches combines many genres (I used to drive my old legacy publishers crazy because I was hard to drop into a specific genre slot, ha, ha). That’s how I wrote most of my 24 novels and short stories…I just tell my story and don’t care what genre it really is. I am merely a storyteller more so than a horror writer, a romance writer or a mystery writer, etc.
P.S. Stormi, if you’d like to read/review any others of my 24 novels just email me and I’ll send you a free copy or free audio book code.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!!!!! Wooo…….author Kathryn Meyer Griffith

I am so excited finding out about this author and book…I am definitely intrigued. Thrown into a different century? Do I get to pick the century? I’d love to live and explore the early 19th century. I’m not sure how I would react to the loss of some freedoms and social improvements for women, but it would be interesting…

  3. Barbara Hackel

I don’t think I would fare very well in another century. I would want the things I have now-not become a mindless/voiceless subservient person that women were usually considered in previous centuries! I would love to be a white witch with an attitude! 😉

  4. Donna Pecore

THIS BOOK LOOKS LIKE MY CAULDRON OF BREW! Currently reading again with one of students, “the Graveyard Book” by Neil Gaiman. A YA novel but definitely putting me in the mood for Witches. Question is this to Adult for a sixth grader, she is a mature reader but still young minded She likes fantasy/ Harry Potter type stuff.

Forgot to say I would be White dipped in black so like Gandalf the gray once and then white all colors of the rainbow a crystal gazer and pegasus lover! leaving the emptiness of darkness but never forgetting what was found there, bringing together the fractions of myself

  6. Donna Pecore

I use to think I belonged in another century but only if I was wealthy because I loved the dresses but I now think that women have come so far that I don’t think I would fare thee well in the past!

  7. E. Michael Helms

Hmm, another century . . . well, I wouldn’t have to bathe so often, just make sure my wig is freshly powdered. I’d have to have plenty of quills and ink on hand to write with. But darn, I couldn’t win an ebook copy of WITCHES because they haven’t been invented–major bummer! 🙂

I hadn’t come across this book before the tag team, but the more I read about it, the more I want it! Great review, does exactly what a review needs: MAKES ME WANT TO READ IT!!

How would I react to being thrown into a different century? Well, to start with, it really really depends on the century. But I like to think that I’d cope, and manage to adapt. Okay. Truth: I’d totally freak and go and hide in a library (if they had one), and read a book to calm down, and THEN I’d try to cope!

There are certainly some centuries I’d rather be sent to than others…

  9. Cherri-Anne Boitson

Thank you for the chance to win an ebook of Kathryn’s Witches! I am eager to read this one! And a bunch of her other books as well! I have added them into my wishlist on Amazon Canada and my “want to reads” list on Goodreads. 🙂

If I was thrown into a different century… well I think I would probably be okay with it as long as it was still a time where indoor plumbing is like it is now! LOL Yes, that is very important to me! 🙂 There are so many other aspects I could (probably) adapt to, but running water and flush toilets is one I NEED!

    Cheers! xoxoxo
