BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

London s East End, 1888: When darkness falls, terror begins
The foggy streets of London s Whitechapel district have become a nocturnal hunting ground for Jack the Ripper, and no woman is safe. Flower girl Constance Piper is not immune to dread, but she is more preoccupied with her own strange experiences of late.

Clairvoyants seem to be everywhere these days. Constance s mother has found comfort in contacting her late father in a seance. But are such powers real? And could Constance really be possessed of second sight? She longs for the wise counsel of her mentor and champion of the poor, Emily Tindall, but the kind missionary has gone missing.

Following the latest grisly discovery, Constance is contacted by a high-born lady of means who fears the victim may be her missing sister. She implores Constance to use her clairvoyance to help solve the crime, which the press is calling the Whitechapel Mystery, attributing the murder to the Ripper.

As Constance becomes embroiled in intrigue far more sinister than she could have imagined, assistance comes in a startling manner that profoundly challenges her assumptions about the nature of reality. She ll need all the help she can get because there may be more than one depraved killer out there…

Just starting this one but it sounds so good, I hope it is as good as it sounds. 🙂

There’s blood in the air. Again. They’ve got the scent of it in their nostrils and they’re following it, like wolves honing in for the kill. Only the killing’s already done.

Now that is a catchy start!

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

“If Geraldine found out that her husband regularly goes to Whitechapel and consorts with these women and threatened to expose him, then he might have…” She can’t say it out loud, but I know what she means and her accusation shocks me to the core.

Not sure about you but I am hooked and need to know more. 🙂

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

If you are at a really good point in a book and the phone rings or the door bell rings, do you stop reading or let the phone or door bell go unanswered?

So if the door bell rings I might go and answer but if the phone rings, it depends on who it is. We don’t have regular phones as we just use our cell phone and so it would have to be someone worthy of stopping to answer…lol.

  1. I love historical mysteries! I haven’t read anything by Tessa Harris, but this one sounds good.

I have a landline only because it is cheaper to bundle than to just get internet and cable separately. I would love to get rid of it, but it’s just too expensive otherwise. 🙁

  2. Oh, fascinating! Jack the Ripper! When we visited London 2 years ago we did a Jack the Ripper tour and it was soooo interesting! I think I’d really enjoy this book. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend 🙂

  3. This one sounds promising – I love that start. I am one of the non-answerers. In fact, you may not get a reply even if you walk right into the room and I am reading. 😂Thanks for sharing. And for visiting my blog.
