Friday Meme’s ~The Masked City
Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Librarian-spy Irene is working undercover in an alternative London when her assistant Kai goes missing. She discovers he’s been kidnapped by the fae faction and the repercussions could be fatal. Not just for Kai, but for whole worlds.
Kai’s dragon heritage means he has powerful allies, but also powerful enemies in the form of the fae. With this act of aggression, the fae are determined to trigger a war between their people – and the forces of order and chaos themselves.
Irene’s mission to save Kai and avert Armageddon will take her to a dark, alternate Venice where it’s always Carnival. Here Irene will be forced to blackmail, fast talk, and fight. Or face death.
I am almost halfway through this one and so far it’s okay. Not sure if I am going to like this one as much as the first one but it could change.
The London air was full of smog and filth. Kai’s senses were better than those of a human, though he tried not to be to smug about it.
That is from the Prologue and he might get that smug wiped off his face soon…lol. I do like Kai though. 🙂
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
“You are correct, Winters.” Vale put down his untouched tea. “I was called out this morning quite early, on a case that I’m afraid I’m not at liberty to discuss. However, it became clear that my presence was not necessary. Whatever had impelled the inspector to summon me…” He frowned.
“A deliberate attempt to distract you, you think?” Irene suggested.

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
Did you meet your reading goals for 2020? How many books did you read?
Yes, I passed my goal a while back. I had it set at 150 and I am currently at 198.
