Friday Meme’s ~ The Game and the Governess

January 15, 2016 Misc. 26

BMR,Friday's MemeSince there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.

book beginnings memeBook Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.

gamegoverness

Trading Places meets Pride and Prejudice in this sexy, saucy romance—first in a new series from the author of YouTube sensation The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

Three friends. One Wager. Winner takes all.

The Earl—‘Lucky Ned’ Ashby. Pompous, preening, certain that he is beloved by everyone.
The Miller—John Turner. Proud, forced to work as the Earl’s secretary, their relationship growing ever more strained.
The Doctor—Rhys Gray. Practical, peace-loving, but caught in the middle of two warring friends.

Their wager is simple: By trading places with John Turner and convincing someone to fall in love with him, Ned plans to prove it’s him the world adores, not his money. Turner plans to prove him wrong.

But no one planned on Phoebe Baker, the unassuming governess who would fall into their trap, and turn everything on its head…

Three best friends make a life-changing bet in the first book in a witty, sexy new Regency trilogy from acclaimed author Kate Noble, writer of the wildly popular Emmy award–winning web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

I just got the second book in this series and so I figured I best get this one read. 🙂 So after I finish my current read this is the one I will start so I don’t know anything about it yet.

It began with a wager...

London, 1822

It has been said that one should not hire one’s friends. No doubt, those who have said this have a deep wisdom about life, a spark of intelligence that recognizes inherent truths- or perhaps, simply the experience that proves the veracity of such a statement.

I am curious. 🙂

Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday  Teaser but  you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.

Leticia must have taken note of his interest, her gaze following his as she moved to stand next to him.

“And what kind of bird do you think the governess is?” she whispered in his ear. “chickadee? A tufted titmouse?”

“A cuckoo,” he answered darkly.

She pulled back a bit at that. “For heaven’s sake, why?”

“Because they cause problems for other birds.”

book blogger hop

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.  Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.

Do you think you will ever get tired of blogging?

No, I don’t think so. I have tried taking a break from my blog but got antsy and went  back to it…lol. I am addicted to my blog. 🙂

I don’t often read historical fiction, but I like the sound of this one, especially the conversation in the “56.”

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

Oh my gosh, this sounds like a really fun book! I loved Trading Places! I love the selections, especially the one about the governess being a cuckoo. I laughed out loud! Thanks forr visiting my Friday post! Happy reading!

  3. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I’ve been seeing Kate Noble everywhere lately! I love the sound of this one – especially the beginning and blurb definitely caught my attention. I’m really wanting to read more historical romances this year and could use some more authors so I look forward to seeing what you think of this one.

  4. Carole @ Carole's Random Life

I haven’t read anything by Kate Noble before but this book looks really good. I may need to check it out once I get a little caught up on my TBR.

Sometimes a short break does remind you how much fun blogging can be. I think that I like blogging more now than I did when I was just getting started.
