Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
Tens of millions of people around the world are dead. Half of China is a nuclear wasteland. Mysterious flesh-eating spiders are marching through Los Angeles, Oslo, Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, and countless other cities. According to scientist Melanie Gruyer, however, the spider situation seems to be looking up. Yet in Japan, a giant, truck-sized, glowing egg sack gives a shocking preview of what is to come, even as survivors in Los Angeles panic and break the quarantine zone. Out in the desert, survivalists Gordo and Shotgun are trying to invent a spider super weapon, but it’s not clear if it’s too late, because President Stephanie Pilgrim has been forced to enact the plan of last resort: The Spanish Protocol. America, you are on your own.
Just starting this one. I liked The Hatching and I am curious to see how the world is making out as deadly spiders take over the world…lol. 🙂 Gives me the heebie jeebies!
From the Prologue:
It was a big flipping spider. That was the only reason he screamed. He wasn’t afraid of spiders. Really. But the thing had been the size of a quarter. Right on his cheek. He’d been backpacking solo for fifteen days, and he hadn’t been scared once. Until his last day out, today, when he woke up with a scary, hairy, ugly spider on his cheek.
That would make me scream too!! 🙂
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
Macer leaned forward to look out the windshield. “Fire of some sort? Probably nothing to worry about. We’ll make a quick stop for gas and food and keep going. There’s going to be a flood and keep going. There’s going to be a flood of people headed east, and we need to make sure we stay ahead of the circus.
Not sure what is going on but seems like where ever they are they need to get ahead of the rush. 🙂Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
What do you do with books you no longer want? Do you donate them? Do you take them to a half-price bookstore? Does a friend or family member benefit?
I take them to the used bookstore a few towns over because I can get store credit and bring home new ones I haven’t read. 🙂 Some times I pass them to friends or family but not many of my family read.
